Worn out topic #157 - Spawn Camping

I apologize for posting this if it's already been covered, but on de_train, what defines a spawn camping Terrorist?

Yes, this is about me and when I was warned I changed my behavior and figured I would come here for clarification. So here I am.

Here's the situation, and its a thin line, I recognize, but hear me out if you would. Thanks.

I'm on CT and we're doing pretty good rushing the T's on Long-A and B. Me and a couple other CTs are consistently flanking the T's when they go B by rushing long A and coming up on their back side up the B stairs. (I apologize if this is unclear, but those who know the map will understand what im talkin about). So the teams get unbalanced and i am team-switched over to T side. Cool.

First couple rounds there is a meat grinder at the Long A alley and I think the call was made to go B. so I do what I've seen done a bunch of times before and I take up a position in that alley covering the B flank from the CT's I know will be coming from Long A and Middle.

Sure enough, not 10 seconds into the round, here come a couple CTs so I kill em. shortly thereafter the round ends and I get a warning not to spawn camp. Admittedly, I argued the point a little, explaining that I was covering the rear to help prevent CTs from coming from the rear but I decided that I'd just go along with it and bring it up here.

Spawn camping is lame and I would no sooner camp out in T spawn on Dust2 or Dust1 or CT spawn on Italy or Office, but in a circular map like Train (and others, im sure I just cant think of at the moment)... the first 10-20 seconds of the round, those areas are key weaknesses in the attack of the offending team.

There was another guy not sticking with the team, Diggers or Ripper or something, when a Long A rush was called, he would go B, when B was called, he would go Long A... just really slackin off and we both got called out in the same breath for not sticking with the team. I think there is a difference between what he was doing and what I was doing. Of course I do, it was me! lol.

I know my intentions and I know that I am a team player but at the same time I dont want to do something that is against the rules. Spawn camping seems to be a very dynamic issue and can change from map to map so I am hoping to get some input on what makes a spawn camping T on Train. Sitting back by the truck with an AWP is lame, and maybe I'm dead wrong. Maybe sitting in a shadow waiting for somebody to pass me by in that alley is no better. That's what I want to find out.

Thanks, and again. I apologize for bringing up a subject that has been beaten into the ground.

I want to maximize my own teamplay and my K ratio should tell you that I spend most of my time leading the rush. anyway, enough self justification, help me understand the nuances of Train so that I dont violate any rules.

    Much appreciated,

    Consultant

I wouldn't complain if I was on your team and you did that. In this case it's logical, I think, that since you were on the CT side before and knew the strategy they were likely to use, then stopping it was a good idea. Maybe next time you could go up the stairs and then wait for the guys because there are some good spots to ambush up there and you're still close enough to the team to help them out if need be.

    Another question.

Are these stats right and up to date?

    http://67.19.3.130/psychostats/stats...r.php?id=48196

I didnt think I had that many headshots... overall percentage 38.65%. That can't be right. Then, on the combined weapon hitbox it is only 11%. And below that, the individual weapons HS% looks WAY too high.. like 37%, 44%, 41%, 42%? Say what?

Yeah, Ive seen people sit in that window overlooking the stairs but I didnt want to chance it so I avoided sitting still at all the rest of the map. But you are right, I see a lot of people there.

If you camping is part of your teams strategy - and agreed to - then fine.

If it's you deciding for yourself that you're not going to heed the call - then you're in trouble.

Ok, then a logistical question. If the admin warning a player is on the opposite team, how would he know which category it fell into if nobody on the camper's team said anything. And if I say "I'm going to cover Long A" and one guy says "OK", does that make it OK? What if nobody says anything?

It seems like semantics and I apologize, but I appreciate the rules of engagement here and want to see that I'm following them. This just seems like bit of an ambiguous situation. I tell ya what, I'll just keep rushing, lol. Cant get in trouble there.

    You got the story wrong.

Your team went long A. I was a CT, and happened to rush Long a with 3 or 4 other teammates that round. I got owned, but the rest of your team tried to push through.

I specced you sitting at mid with Ripper(a SERIOUS spawn camper) while the rest of your team died at long, and you were still sitting there after the bomb dropped.

I have no problem with you covering your team's flank. But the when the bomb drops and you don't go get it, that's when it's not cool anymore.

RE: Re: RE: Worn out topic #157 - Spawn Camping

If that's what happened then I am certainly wrong. Like I said, those first 10 -20 seconds of a round are hectic and I know (thought?) I saw/heard people calling B. If you're the one who warned me then I must assume your facts are straight and I'm the one confused.

Like I said... it isnt worth getting negative admin attention for, so I'll keep rushin.

I didnt know the bomb was down (probably out of my own ignorance). The most obvious need of mine is paying more attention to the radar. I am not so good at that.

Thanks Rav, for clearing it up.

I was on the same end of this debate as you awhile back Consultant so I know where your coming from...Let me say first, I believe if your repeatedly getting flanked, by all means, protect it. But communicate with your team also though. If you want the whole team to stay to wait for the push, and then rush, communicate it to them and have that be the plan...Nothing wrong with that.
