Thread: RTV - Abuse

If you are a reg on the servers you know we play maps like Dust 2, Piranesi, Inferno, Season, Mill, Lost Temple, Nuke, and Port a alot. Thats fine cause they are great maps, but when we get voted to maps like Villa, Prodigy, Tides, etc. People almost always in my experience RTV cause they don't know the map and are getting rocked. Well at some point you did not know Dust 2, Mill, Season etc. So a encourage you to man up and lose some rounds on maps you don't know cause we miss a lot of great team-play maps because of people's lack of ambition to learn new maps and just RTV to Dust 2.

Also when the vote list comes up I feel it is the same 8-10 maps so just from this alone the server is gonna be on those few maps most of the time.

This is not a post to tell you to change the map rotations, vote method etc. Cause sometime you need to switch to a popular map to keep server alive. Its just to let you know that there are plenty of good maps and just cause you do not know them does not mean they suck or are imbalanced and you should just RTV. Just something to think about next time you play a map out side of your comfort zone. I also encourage you to vote for the maps that we seldom play cause then perhaps they would be played more and you would get to learn them.

I have no problem playing Dust, Mill, Nuke a majority of the time, but when by chance we get to a map that is not in the majority played give it a chance. You never know you might find you like those maps more and they will become the regs played.

I agree with you, but another solution is to get rid of maps like prodigy and miltia. There are instant server killers and only a few people enjoy them. But yes when it comes to 90% of the custom maps we voted onto the server, everyone should stick with it and play the map. They are all really fun maps and during the time when we played them all the time it was awesome!

Actually prodigy is not the server killer you think it is. A week or so ago it came up and me BigTymer were the only regs on T side. We started off with 7 per side and by the end of the map there were 12 per side and the T's were kicking ass. The so called "server killers" are only thusly named because people never give them a shot or just dismiss the map because it is not d2, pira, inferno, port, etc....

Also another problem with the rtv system is that some people are only for less than an hour and want to play their favorite map, which is why you see a lot of d2 and what not being played. It does get tiresome playing the same map 3 or even 4 times in the span of my daily playtime. It would be nice for people to give the lesser played maps a chance and breathe some fresh air on the server that seems really stale all the time as far as map selection goes.

Most of the maps are not custom they are just new.

I personally don't have a problem with milita, prodigy, or any of those maps that we rarely play. Yes there are times were we will get 22 players to play prodigy or italy, but for the most part those maps are RTVed immediately and if they are not, half the server disconnects. Once again I AGREE that players should suck it up and play these maps, but I do think that 1 or 2 on the rotation could be taken off.

And they are custom maps because they are not CS:S stock maps like, Dust2, Pira, office, italy. They were maps created after the game came out, thus making them custom to my understanding. I'm talking about Sewer, Stadium, Frost, etc. We rarely play those maps anymore.

that would actually does nothing because people like myself actually vote for the so called "server killers" because 1. they are a change of pace and 2. I actually like playing them/.
