Thread: New possible tournament; need input

I'm thinking of starting up a 3v3 Double Elimination tournament. Any 3 regs, standard bomb maps, flexible schedule, etc. I realize there has never been a successful tournament here at TPG, I hosted 2 of the 3, but it couldn't hurt to try again... right?

The first one I did was a 5v5 clan based double elimination, which was successful down to the semi-finals when outside drama that caused 3 of the top clans excommed from TPG, leaving the tournament dead.

The second tournamnet was a 2v2 Ladder tournament, which again was successful for a few weeks until people(including myself) lost interest with a never ending tournament.

This 3v3 Double Elimination is an inbetween of the last two. The bracket and suspense of the Double Elimination, but smaller, easier to manage/schedule teams, with the option of having clan teams, regulars, and both.

This is just an idea so give me your input. I know there will be a lot of people for it, and a lot of debbie downers that won't. The ones that won't are more than likely going to say "tournaments never work, I have a vagina, yadda yadda" I already know. But at the same time if I try to unlock my car door with the trunk key on accident, I'm not going to drop my keys and say "fuck it, I'm out" I'm going to keep trying until I find the right fucking key.

Great plan, let me know if you need any help. My advice would be to have games due in a certain week, so that things don't drag on forever. If people can't get together during a full week they just aren't trying.

I hope this doesnt happen within month or 2. Im fixing to be in the process of moving to a diff town into my new house!

I agree, no big maps. I can set a list of maps when the time comes, and ill make it open forum for people to vote to add/remove maps. Great idea, thanks.

With a 3ve tourney you could use a map like aztec, but wouldnt recommend it too much. If you want to do this in a very interesting fashion, I would suggest it be a 3v3 pistols only tournament. And keep the maps simple like d2, inferno, train, season. No port, pira, chateau or overly large maps.

As DuDDy recommended, I think perhaps having the tournament as pistols only might be a good idea; or maybe pistols and SMGs only. I also agree with DuDDy in regards to what maps to use for this (should it actually happen). That might be best left to a vote, though.
