We'll be releasing an update soon to both text chat and voice communication in the Source Engine that will improve communication for people in multiplayer games. We've completely rebuilt the text chat system, adding the ability to browse your chat history right in the chat window and a filter to remove messages that clutter your game screen. Voice communication will be getting a huge boost in quality, so if you have a microphone sitting on the corner of your desk collecting dust, now would be a good time to plug it back in.

I really think valve's taken note of TTP's dedication to mic usage with this one - can we take credit for this?

Perhaps Gabe Newell is tired of logging in to TTP and getting verbally abused for not using his mic.......he keeps saying he has one, you know, but I cant ever hear him.....

haha ya i just loaded up steam to see that update myself... wonder how the quality is goin to sound..... maybe it'll have the quality of talking on TS or Vent using its best codec... if it does... that'd be really clear

this brings up a good question i have... last night i was playing and my sound all of a sudden started sounding like i was underwater. i eventually found out it was my headset and grabbed my mp3 player headphones.

i forgot what the question was now...

About time, this will be extremely helpful.

Finally valve makes a nice update. Now if they could do something about vac.
