I just figured I'd point out that we are, again, having an excessive amount of new players in the servers. Try be patient with them as a caller...I know it's tough and I'm probably one of the least tolerant callers on the server, but it can be worked through. We had some good stuff going on nuke a couple of days ago with Pimp, 18, and myself being pretty much the only regs. OTOH we had a whole bunch of idiots playing last night on Mill, Inferno and Nuke...probably 10-15 people got banned.
As I said, try and take it easy on the newbies and tell them what TPG's about...I wasn't exactly a model citizen when I got here and I'm sure the rest of you were the same way.

Re: Newbies
Calls are easy to follow. Even the ones where the nicknames are utilized and you may not be sure what your role is. You can always just follow the rest of your team, which is not the best choice, but better than nothing. Or...........you could simply ask after the call is made, "Where do you want me?" Usually works out pretty well....

Look, this attitude that the new players should immediately know what to do is getting ridiculous. Take it slow, be patient, and make sure they are appreciated for following the call when it is made.
One of the major reasons I have stopped playing CS:S is because of people blowing up due to someone not following the call to the letter. Don't immediately think they do not want to follow the call because they have no clue what you are talking about. Sure, there are plenty of assholes in CS that do this, but do not label everyone you see as one of these people.
Influx of new players means a chance for growth as a community, make sure they like the people of it.
/mini_rantWhy no rank?
Because that isn't why or how I play.

Re: Newbies
What? Our regulars are more than open to explaining things to the new people. I've seen a nice step up in those regs taking the time to explain things as admins are dealing with other stuff. The admins, although many have different styles, are very patient with newcomers. There is only so much hand holding you can do, before it disrupts the flow of the game and they need to be removed.
