Each map has 1-3 choke points which allow "map control", even though most will say it is the zone, to ensure the zone you require the choke.
Example: Season's main part is mid, to control mid you require vents, subs and squeaky. So in order to get ONE zone, you need 3 various chokes, unless you control all of them, you do not have map control. Meaning, it's not a proper slow play or work picks, call it whatever you may.
It is crucial you control these points in ALL slows plays on ALL maps.

Teams always work much more efficiently when everyone is fighting to be first. First in the rush. First through that doorway. First person in the site guns-a-blazing. I miss those teams....

I'm going to bump this. It's a good thread that I think alot of people could do with a reminder of some things in here.
And since I'm bumping it...
PLAY THE GODDAMNED BOMB!!!!
If you are in a 1vsmany situation as a T and you have the bomb down, your goal is NOT to kill all the CT's. Your goal is to DELAY them until the fucking bomb explodes. Stop trying to Rambo the shit. Plant in the open if at all possible and play somewhere that is not the usual spot. And fucking move. If you can hit them from multiple angles you have a much better chance of winning.
Example:
1 vs. Many on de_season bomb planted at A in the open(not sandbags, not double stacked box). Don't fucking play lower. They EXPECT you to play lower. So don't do it. Play upper, cat, elbow. Anywhere but lower. If you have a smoke, smoke off pit or something. Make them look around. If you have the time and they aren't hitting the site as a team, you can get a kill at upper, and move to lower, or jump off the box to sit right next to elbow.
Randomness and the element of surprise are your best friends in a 1vsmany situation. Luker is great at doing this...He constantly gets clutches in these situations with his "Luker shuffle" by doing what they don't expect and popping up at the most random spot imaginable.

Re: Post a tip to improve the skill of the community
I'm going to try and expand on Rawrkitty's post because of how important the concept of the bomb is in this game. The strategy of this game is pretty simple - it's all about odds (think Poker Heads up). Being in a 5v3 you have better odds of winning while in a 2v4 you have lower odds of winning. Pretty elementary. If the bomb is planted and you'll see the Terrorist odds go up and the Counter-Terrorist odds go down. Obviously odds are still odds that's why you see 1v5 ace clutches just like you see that 1 out on the river in poker. It happens. Best way to control your odds is to control the bomb.
As a terrorist:
If you have the bomb, buy armor. Get armor before your gun. A legit pistol strategy in 5v5 is for the bomber to armor up to make the plant more likely. The longer the bomb is planted for the T's the higher your odds are, while the longer the bomb is dead just sitting in the middle of the site waiting to be planted and the CT's are seeing their odds increase. Little things like helping get the bomb down, planting safe (IF NEEDED) instead of open to GUARANTEE the plant (THIS IS HUGE ON ECO'S) and you'll win more rounds. You also need to call out where you are planting the bomb so your team doesn't have to guess, it's as easy as saying "planted open," "planted for long", etc.
After the plant is down, NO TERRORIST SHOULD DIE UNTIL THE CT'S HAVE TOUCHED THE BOMB! How many ways are there to win a round for the counter terrorist? 1) kill opposition, 2) bomb defusal, 3) time expire. How many ways are there to win a round for a CT after the bomb has been planted? Only one, so T's don't need to aggressively peak and allow the CT's to get more manageable odds. The CT's don't have a chance to win the round until they touch the bomb. Plus touching the bomb hinders that players gameplay for a second. It's a 3v3 and one ct has touched the bomb. It's still 3v3 but it plays as a 3v2 as one player is incapacitated while getting off the bomb or trying to full defuse. Plus it's a big ass vegas sign showing you right where they are. You might not not the exact position of all 3 guys, but once one player touches the bomb, you know where he is. This allows easier kills or playing games with the opposition allowing time to expire and the bomb to explode.
Counter Terrorist:
Delay the bomb planter. Use your nades to keep the T's at bay while your rotate is on the way. They'll have a harder time planting if they are constantly white screen and with nades going off in the "prime" plant areas.
If your going to fake, don't make noise! It's a 1v1 and you tap the bomb to fake but start running around wondering where they are. They'll just sit there and wait for you to tap it again because you can't obviously be on it while running around or scoping. Tap and walk keeping your crosshair pinned to where you think they are.
Also know when to defuse and wen to get aggressive. It's planted lower B on nuke 2 T's and just you. If you get on it you die. Plain and simple. You tap and fake kill one instantly traded and you still lose. You stay on and they kill you and yes, you still lose. You need to AT LEAST force a 1v1 by getting aggressive so you have better odds. You force a 1v1 and your tap fake can't be traded, you kill the guy you win.
Those 1v5 clutches are usually made by CT's (or T's even) who change the odds. They don't fight a 1v5, they fight five 1v1s and that's much much more manageable.
Remember that bomb plants give you money ($800 a plant as a Terrorist) if you lose the round. A win always grants the same amount of cash so a win plus a plant does NOT equal more money. Controlling your oppositions economy is big in this game and not allowing them to get free plants will help you win more.Last edited by Mr_Rager; 04-09-12 at 10:17 PM.

11v11 and 5v5 are very different.
Just like 2v2 basketball and 5v5.
