Re: Post a tip to improve the skill of the community
I run that call whenever I have already tried 3 or 4 and have had little to no success. That call gives me sometime to slow things down, so I can evaluate potential weaknesses of the opposing team and get a better call. If my team loses 4 straight rounds and call "slow it down and get picks" and we end up dominating that round, I may call it again the next round to see if it works again.

This is a serious pro-tip. It just creates a distraction and conflict in a team when people are dropping their "we should he shoulds" while you are trying to call. Normally, there is one caller. Suggestions are welcome as far as a personal basis, but don't drop them on your caller on round start; wait until he's dead to suggest them or to at least give the heads up you have one in mind. I know if we're getting whooped some callers, myself included, have no problem relinquishing control.
On a losing T side you hear a lot of whiners, but generally the same people are not willing to lead. If you have a clear and constructive plan get it out there, if not then just keep that chatter box zipped on round start.Last edited by Affinity; 07-25-12 at 04:46 PM.

What about when the caller calls the same call 7+ out of 10 rounds and it's not working for the same reason every time?
This happened on contra once when someone was calling a fake b where we walk in upper A tunnel with bomb. Every single time the pushy ct's spotted us and killed us.

07-25-12, 05:19 PM #196The improper response is to bitch about the call at the beginning of the round. The proper response is to wait until you and the caller are dead then say either why don't we try _____, or can I take the next few calls?.

ya like they said if someone is calling and the calls are not working just throw out some ideas when the caller is dead. 9 times out of 10 the caller is getting frustrated too so they are usually open for some good ideas just dont try to take over calling. a good sign that a caller is open to ideas is if they just keeping calling slow plays over and over again. so just keep that in mind

If somebody keeps calling slow plays over and over then either give them suggestions or take over calling. Constantly slow playing is annoying for both sides, and is not how we play at TPG. The occasional slow play is fine...it should only be used once or twice a map when you expect a rush or need the T's to catch their breath and find their brains.
and to expand on slowplaying, we have a whole bunch of people that are doing it wrong.
The point of a slow play is to set up for a rush at the BEGINNING of the round, and if it comes, beat it, if it doesn't then T's need to get aggressive around the map for a couple of picks so that you can pick a site and take it. Slow playing does not mean go do whatever the fuck you want. This is still TPG. You still need to work as a team towards the objective. If you wanna be Rambo then go fucking Rambo somewhere else.
This bullshit of a slowplay being called and having 6 people sit in T spawn "waiting for the rush" is not going to work. You aren't helping your team sitting there. You're baiting them. Get aggressive, make some picks and then BE VOCAL, PICK A SITE, PLANT THE FUCKING BOMB. Far too often in the past couple of months I've seen T's slowplay for a minute and a half and then finally decide that maybe they should pick up the bomb and take a site with 5-6 players total left alive and less than a minute left in the round.
