Don't limit yourself mentally. If you're holding cat on d2 by yourself and someone calls "holy shit they're all going cat!" don't tell yourself oh shit i'm only good for one or two before I get run over. People who think of themselves of being at this certain skill level and tell themselves that you can only do so much in this situation really bring themselves down. Never think to yourself I'm only going to get the trade and die. Instead chill out, get your gun posted up, visualize your shots, and do your best. You just may surprise yourself. Better than that you will probably get better.

Same goes for rush calls. Don't be afraid to be the first one in. Sure, you usually die first but you are also drawing fire while you take a couple enemies with you.

The fastest rushers will often get 1-3 easy kills by catching people with their nades out or blind spraying a common spot(Cat bricks on d2 anyone?). Being the front man isn't necessarily bad for your score.

Don't take wide angles on a rush unless you are doing so to cover somebody (i.e. strafing left going into B tuns on lost temple - you cover your rushing teammates by picking the right side corner) doing so just slows you and your team down. Also try and keep 1-3 steps between you and the guy in front of you. Bumping into each other leads to jacked up shots and backfiring flashes/grenades.

Defending some sites are easier than others, some require more people defending it too. Don't split sites even on maps like Inferno, Train, Piranesi, you should know where you need people.

Run with your pistol out instead of a knife on rushes or in places your trying to get to. Its almost the equivalent speed when running.

Australian is right. Pistols, smgs (except possibly p90), and the knife all have the same run speed, 250 u/s. Scout is 260 u/s.

so if I get bitched at for running out of spawn with my pistol out.. I can say Check the forums. I'm tired of guys crying about not running with your knife out...
