Custom Map Testing Day.
There seems to be a lot of interest in adding new maps to the CSS servers, so Blonde and I thought it would be a good idea if we had a map testing day to see if any are TPG worthy. I think Thursday (6-23) would be a good day to do it, starting at 4-5 central and going until we finish testing out the maps.
Here is a list of maps I compiled that I think are balanced nicely and could be fun to play.
First up, de_cache.
This map was created by "Volcano" of Team3D. His words: "I began working on this project to create a map that would be well balanced and fun for competition. I tried to keep the map simple and quick to learn while also leaving lots of room for creativity in strategy and playstyle. I have really enjoyed working on the map and I hope that the community enjoys playing it!"

Next, de_greene.
This map was finalized by "cashed", the mapper who created de_season. It uses the de_prodigy theme, but plays nothing like de_prodigy.

3rd, de_cevo_hazard.
This map is fairly large, featuring numerous routes to rotate through. I can see a lot of opportunities for crafty calls and diversions, as well as straight site rushes being viable.

de_lite_rc2.
This map was also created by "cashed" (of de_season fame) for ESEA.

Finally, de_scud_pro_beta3 will be tested as well, thanks to Fire's thread. See his thread for a video and other comments.
All the maps are on the FTP and can be auto-downloaded, but here they are if you'd like to pre-download them:

Nice! Can't wait for tomorrow night. Let's get a good showing for all of Madmax's hard work. If you want to play new maps, then this is the time to do so. If I'm correct we will only be playing these NEW maps. It should be a really good time. I'll be on at 5pm central.

Yes. First come, first serve.
We will still be doing it at that time, you would just miss a few maps.
I have no idea, others seem to be able to. Try here: http://www.teamplayergaming.com/down...do=file&id=522Last edited by Madmax (Grape); 06-23-11 at 11:44 AM.

Re: Custom Map Testing Day.
Aww, I'm working evening shift tonight, so I may be late to the party, but I'll try to get on. Some of these maps look pretty interesting. I've actually played de_cevo_hazard before on another server. It is a rather large map. It'd be good to see how it plays in an 11v11 setting.
On a side note, I'm actually working on a map of my own as well, called de_friction. I'm hoping to one day complete it and play test it for TPG as we're doing for these. I'm fairly novice at map-making though, so it's going to take me a very long time. I've done a lot of messing around with Hammer in the past, but have never actually finished a full map. At this rate, I'd expect to finish it sometime in early 2012.
