Re: Why diff map lists for servers?
Every time I nominate a map it's usually Scorch or Crane but I rarely get to play those. I dunno if I'm nuts but I'm starting to see Dust2/Season being nominated more for just priming the server, I haven't played much of those 2 maps the past week or so. And can we test out de_strata? Has it been played here before? Anyone else like it? I'm not positive but I think it has all the needed elements to pass the TPG test, maybe.
GameBanana: de_strata (Maps > Counter-Strike: Source > Bomb/Defuse > de_strata)

Re: Why diff map lists for servers?
I always loved Villa, when we got a chance to play it. Usually if we can get to a less played map, and get the teams organized with in the first few rounds we can get it poppin. Of course, the problem is just getting to those maps, and not having people quit in those first few crucial rounds.

Re: Why diff map lists for servers?
I think its funny when I hear 7 or 8 people complaining about dust2 being voted on and you count up the amount of votes the map gets and half of those people that 'hate' the map have to have voted for it
. I'm guilty of the season/dust2 votes but once those are played I usually go for Fire, Frost, or Sewer. I'm all about new maps after I get my season fix. When is Mad Maxes creation going into the rotation?
Go sell crazy someplace else we're all stocked up here.

Re: Why diff map lists for servers?
I couldn't agree more. A couple of weeks ago I read someone saying: Season is the new dust2. Yeahhh, it's pretty damn true in my opinion. My favorite map right now is Sewer, it has opportunity for some pretty intense calls. Frost is also creeping up on the list for me. Especially if we can get the entire terrorist team to wear the arctic skin. Basically ninjas.

Re: Why diff map lists for servers?
It's well balanced, but so are many of the maps we play. Because it is played sooo damn much, not only is it overplayed, but IMO it is now over rated as people are insanely quick to vote for it.
I'm starting to think there is a problem with the voting system. Yes, it will only bring up votes for maps not recently played, but is that order that the vote lists them as random? I'm not sure, but I don't think it is. To clarify, Season seems to always be at the top or very near the top of the list whenever it is up to be selected amongst all the other maps. I never see season in the 5th slot or whatever. Am I on to something?

Re: Why diff map lists for servers?
If you type nominate and choose a map, your nomination will be the first map on the vote. If someone else does this after you, their map choice will be second on the list, etc.
I like this system in some ways, because a knowledgeable person can always get their map choice first on the list and it is my thought that a more knowledgeable person would try to diversify the maps. On the other hand, we occasionally get the dummy who nominates dust2 or some other overplayed map. Then that map is nearly guaranteed to win. Overall though, I think the nomination system helps. We can do better.
