Why diff map lists for servers?
I was wondering why there are more maps available on the AWP server. Not that there is a huge difference but it would be nice to get some of the other maps into the no AWP/Auto server. With all of our bitching about over playing maps I've noticed lesser played maps being nominated and played a little bit more lately (keep it up!).
And on a side note...
I'm not sure, but I'm guessing the map lists TPG has are competetive (or something like that)? Would it be possible to put custom maps in (or w/e their called)? Is there some kind of test that maps have to pass to be put into rotation?

yeah because a lot of custom maps just don't work with TPG 11 man teams. We used to have a lot more custom maps like jungle & other stuff but who knows what happened
Words are only limited to the effable, while the indescribable is merely found within ourselves.

I told Madmax about this a long time ago. No idea why it wasn't changed.

Re: Why diff map lists for servers?
A little while back we removed some maps from the standard vote list that either weren't being played or had some sort of issue. I guess it only got changed on one of the servers.
They need to be free of game-breaking bugs, conducive to teamplay (radar required), and have a demand to be played.
Some never got re-installed after the OB update. I believe de_losttemple2 was one.
I don't have the power to change the maps on the server. That requires a high admin. We can do better.

Re: Why diff map lists for servers?
Talk came up earlier about forest as a good map. I am inclined to agree here. It offers some fantastic opportunities for the terrorists to get creative, and forces the cts to get some good communication. Personally I think we need to get some of these older maps that we used to play up and running again. We always seem to have a good time, and is always nice to mix things up a bit.
Also, Max what's the latest on your newest map that we got to test a couple of weeks ago? That was such a great map. Can't wait to play it!

Re: Why diff map lists for servers?
Heh this map preference seems to rotate itself. D2 always being it's constant. Is sorta like one map replaces another. Nuke gets played as often now as cbble use to. Inferno has sorta replaced piranesi for popularity.
Chateau, Port use to be played daily. Now I barely see them once every couple of weeks. I am in favor of playing Tuscan over mill, only because it's mostly the same just different. Nighthawk, NavarroBase, Scorch, Russka, and Strike get voted in quite regularly. I am surprised they don't see more playtime in the stats.
Tides, Villa, Crane, Frost, train are some of the most strait forward maps. Nice change when these get played -- but alas it's once in a blue moon. Promhoz, Sewer, Fire are for whatever reason difficult to break ground with. See them get voted in RTV'd off more often than not.
Classics like militia, prodigy, aztec, office, and italy barely even see the light of day anymore. Probably because of a common perception these maps are imbalanced (which they basically are).
Rush, Cantina, and vertigo just don't have the kind of exposure they need to be voted in. I am not even sure if the latter two are even loaded into the rotation anymore.
And let's face it. Havana, compound, assault, and dust1 really aren't worth playing. They are either really old maps or have a silly design that doesn't really match up with CS:S.
Though I think BT is right, although these rotations should match on each server it doesn't seem to make much of a difference. We play the same 4-6 maps most nights.
