People keep voting for the same maps over and over again (Dust2, Season, Strike, LT) because they are some of the most well balanced maps in the game. There's a reason why Dust2 is the most popular map in the game...It's simple and the most well balanced map out there.
Unfortunately, a lot of maps skew heavily towards one side or the other, and just don't work well with the server's style of gameplay. If this was just another run of the mill, frag hunting, teammate baiting pub server, then it really wouldn't matter what maps were played because the only thing you'd have to worry about is your own score. But it's not...It's about teamplay and working together, and it really does take a certain style of map for that sort of gameplay to work well.
There just aren't a lot of well balanced maps out there. I mean really, who wants to play a map where all Ts have to do is rush 1 site 15 times to win? Or a map where Ts have to slowplay for 15 rounds and lose? It's boring and not very fun at all.
There are some decently balanced maps on the list that I'd like to see more of, but most of these are still a bit popular...Contra, Nighthawk, Russka, Tuscan/Mill (Which I have noticed is being picked more often lately). I can do without super skewed maps like Pira, Chateau, Port, Nuke, Aztec, and Train

Re: today...
There was a time when we never played de_season. It was added and became popular. There is always a chance that another new map will be just as balanced and well received.
A lot of people unfairly judge maps. Some stock maps are terrible yet get played, while a well balanced custom map will not be. And it isn't waiting for the map to download, people come into the map and say "This map sucks it will kill the server". Then it doesn't actually kill the server, but people still associate it that way. I think that with the popularity of TPG CSS, we could play any de_ or cs_ map during primetime and keep it full. Shoot, I even primed one of the servers playing de_inferno_pro once...We can do better.

Re: today...
Well we have had runs in the past where we play lots of customs. And a couple get shifted into the rotation more routinely. And though I understand your view about calls, getting the team organized, and familiarity -- I still think when we have a bunch of regs/reservists/admins on we should be trying more different maps. When it's our normal group of people the calls/organizing are not really a problem. Lol but instead we seem to play the odd ball maps when the regulars/reservists aren't around. Then it is difficult to organize. And it turns the few regulars present at the time off of the map.

Re: today...
when you nominate a map it goes onto the map vote list when the vote for next map comes up after a team wins 12 rounds or whatever.
1st nomination gets 1st spot, 2nd nomination gets 2nd spot, etc.
max answered your question right below that post you quoted... http://www.teamplayergaming.com/coun...ml#post1522398
anyways, when will de_scud and the other maps that were tested be added to the servers?
