Re: Tips on Complex calls and how to follow them.

Complex calls are as much about the caller as those who follow/execute them.

Seems best to call people out by name to start. Selecting maybe 4 at most. Complex calls come in many flavors. On a complex split as the leader you have to fill in the gaps yourself. Get people to turn around and follow you if for some reason a piece of the split isn't being executed.

Repeat your orders with precision and emphasis. IF you muddle around with your orders, or are vague on the goal, most of the team will be slightly confused or out of place. Repeating things quickly right at the beginning gives everyone a chance to nail it into their head. Emphasis places goals for those still confused.

(eg "Manno, Mobius, Wishbear go to B vents NOW, everyone else with BOMB lower A, everyone else LOWER A, Bomb Lower A" -- " You three in vents delay and go middle to B on my mark" -- "Lower DONT PUSH, As soon as we hit A stairs we are going to make contact and DOUBLEBACK through tunnels toward our spawn to B site. we're taking this bomb B") <- not a complex call, and probably a poor example, but the idea of repeating/emphasizing your orders

Getting people to their position right from the Get Go is key! Some complex calls have to be said on the go, so get everyone where they should be going right away, and then fill out the rest of the strategy.

If the play is high paced and the team is obviously struggling, or not fluid enough, try slowing down the pace of execution by a smidgen. Simply ask one side or another of your rush to delay and wait for orders.

Next step is watch how it goes. What parts of the plan went bad and why? Was it because people were not following the strat? Did part of the plan fail badly? Improve on that plan but save it for a later round. It's a bad idea to drag a team through too many complex calls in a row when most often simple will work best.

For those following complex calls? Easy, learn all the nicknames of map positions and listen. If you are otherwise lost follow the lead of the person in front of you. Run when they run, walk when they walk, and keeping listening.

Stay off your effing mic, especially at the beginning of the round.

Pull up the scoreboard as the call is being made, or at some point during the call. I'm looking at the scoreboard as I make the call, you can too.

Listen and focus. Freeze time/call time is not that long. You can focus for 10 seconds.

I make sure to get the call made and repeated in the very beginning with emphasis on the important parts. If you don't hear it the first time, double your focus the second time. Hearing "wait, where am I going?" after I have made the call, repeated the call, and re-stated the goal of the call has to be one of the more frustrating things I've experienced here.

Oh yeah, stay off your effing mic.

One thing is that you can never mess up. You must know exactly what to say or don't say it at all if you are unsure. I see some callers who forget what to say half way into their call and fuck up the whole round just from messing up.

Another important thing for callers is to know what you are working with. I don't call often, but if it's a team of mostly non regs I'll keep it relatively simple until you get some momentum going.

I prefer calling when no regs are on, they honestly can't handle complex calls, saddens me.

When they are on, I keep it simple for their sake, "split, rush, slow, gay". I can't call creative calls when regs are on. Newbies, plays much better with calls. They also enjoy it more.

    Oh tips. Sorry.

Be clear, call out MAJORITY of your team's position first then the lesser group, eg: "Everyone except top 3 and bomb go A, top 3 and bomb go wait outside B". This gives your team to be organized, while the top 3 and bomb can take their time, since they are hitting it afterwards.
Australian-I feel for ya bro gaming on a piece of shit you should be twice as good at any game you play. Thats really really a scary thought. Part of me does not want you to get a new rig.

I've noticed that several times actually. For some reason it seems like sometimes certain regs feel they know the call so only listen half assed and get it wrong. Train map yesterday was a good example...had a few regs but mostly non regs and we were tearing it up T side train. Some reservists join and my non regs got kicked and suddenly we were getting our asses kicked cuz they weren't buying what I was selling(I.E. anticipating calls and failing at it.)

Re: Tips on Complex calls and how to follow them.

    My list when I'm calling:
    • Keep it simple. Don't over explain. The more you explain the more people will stop listening, sad enough.
    • If the call is overly complex call it if you're dead and waiting for the next round. Then call it again when the round starts. Most people will hear it the first time and the people that are alive will get it the second time. This allows you for less prep time to explain if someone has a question.
    • Work with the team you have. Not all teams are rush teams, not all are slow play teams. Use the talents of your team to your advantage.
    • Call on your star players to do the important things.
    • Check tab and check it often.
    My list when not calling
    • LISTEN!
    • LISTEN!
    • GET OFF YOUR MIC DURING THE CALL!
    • If you have a question, speak up after the call is made for clarification. If you don't follow the call you run the risk of being kicked or banned.
    • Do your job. It's that simple. If you need to rush, rush. Don't hang back because you don't want to eat 5 nades. I'd rather eat the five nades than the whole rest of my team.
    • STAY OFF YOUR MIC UNLESS YOU HAVE INFORMATION THAT WOULD HELP THE TEAM!
There's more to it, but that's the general rule of thumb.

while your point is good I would say that when I make a call I stumble through the call.. I'm not trying to play stupid.. Its just some words don't come out of my mouth the right way... So I basically well communicate the call through my Team when most of us is dead then when the call is concrete we make it... I should slow down and think but when you have your team riding your ass and its time to play you got to get the call out right the first time...
