Re: Aimbot, how do you determine if someone is using it?
word of advice is to not call out the hacker in game... use admin chat for god sakes... Thats an easy way for the hacker to get the picture someone knows about his play style and toggle them off...
And this probably irritates the shit out of me but when someone accuses of hacking going on.. you have this huge debate in the server that distracts gamers from focusing in the game... And believe me I get paranoid when 3 or 4 guys who is calling out a reg for walling and theres the huge discussion...DJ Ms. White liked this post

Re: Aimbot, how do you determine if someone is using it?
well.. obviously i am not new to this discussion. i've been around for many years with TPG and i myself was temp. banned for a short season.. i would say for aimbot, the locking on target effect is the most obvious. like others stated before.. wallhacking is the hardest to spot.. but only at the beginning. once you have seen players play regularly.. you can build your own conclusions on how many times he is shot from corners without expecting it, etc. another hard cheat to spot.. is recoil hack.. you just have to look at spray patterns. of course i do believe people make mistakes.. there is always a chance that some(very few) are possibly innocent.. admins do make mistakes. but this is rare. i do agree with mobius about calling the players out.. it is distracting to the server.. make your own demo and present it to the admins. be smart.

Don't forget about nade avoidance hacks. I've seen a couple that make the hacker immediately run/jump back from an HE grenade or instantly turn away and then back from a flash bang so they aren't affected. There are also model hacks, but I think those are dying/have died out with model consistency checking. They allowed people to change model appearances. Like make a giant rod come out of every enemies head so that you can seem them coming, or making their model glow brightly so no one can hide in darkness from you. There are also speed hacks that are self explantory. A sneaky guy could just go with sped up reloads and such, though.

Re: Aimbot, how do you determine if someone is using it?
Whoa, that's the first I heard of anything like that!
Regarding what to do when you see a hacker, I agree with mobius and luker... PLEASE, if you see something suspicious, take a demo and send it to an admin WITHOUT making a scene about someone hacking. If you start making a scene you are helping the hacker know that he's being too obvious and they will start toggling or just playing smarter with their hacks. Crying about hacking is an action that directly benefits the hacker and both distracts the server in the short term and makes it harder to catch hackers in the long term. Even just bringing it up on teamchat usually gets the whole team discussing it, and someone is going to start talking smack to the hacker and clue them in. Keeping 10-20 people quiet about something like that is next to impossible, even if you initially bring it up when the hacker is alive and you are dead.
If you see a hacker, in my opinion the correct thing to do is:
1) Take a demo. Try not to drop into spec from being on a team to do it since that may clue the hacker in. Just demo when you are dead.
2) Alert the admin via the @ command. For example, "say @ please spec haxpajamas, I think he is using a wallhack."
3) If you absolutely must start discussing it, do it via Steam message to tell a friend "Hey, watch this guy but don't say anything in server since we don't want him to catch on."
A demo with clear signs of hacking, to my experience in other games, is the silver bullet that cuts through all the bullshit excuses and strikes a cheater right at their dirty cheating heart. So just work on getting that while letting them remain overconfident and obvious in their hacking. They might hack for 10 minutes longer than they would otherwise on that particular day, but after that their ass is grass.Join the TPG Folding @ home team: http://www.teamplayergaming.com/pc-h...ding-team.html

Re: Aimbot, how do you determine if someone is using it?
Press TEAMSAY "u" then use @, not on SAY "y". :P
But I agree with Luke, Mobi and Frog here.
Most problem players and hackers enjoy disrupting a server, they come in to do this. I've noticed some good players come into other community servers just to troll and hack.
So calling them out is a big NO NO, they thrive on it.

Re: Aimbot, how do you determine if someone is using it?
more than likely in a full server admins are in the game and know what is going on... you don't even have to join spec to demo him...Try to wait it out... don't be a total ass hat and tell everyone to go spec he will more than likely join spec to stay hidden. not only that but it kills the server... and you just helped his hack trolling... discuss it in admin chat like I said....
