Why is DOD better than DODS?

Lately I have been watching day of defeat videos and I noticed how much more it has ( in terms of guns and etc.) and was wondering why the fuck does dods not seem to have half the stuff.

I mean dod has the two different german mgs and it also has the grease gun. The K98 also has a bayonet, and I did noticed that the pistols seemed to be more accurate?

My question is why did they change all of that?

Balance. In DOD, a rifleman excelled at all ranges, and the grease gun was hugely overpowered. It's now more balanced.

Yeah, the grease gun is probably worse than the carbine. They would have to tone it down a lot if they were to put it in.

The source versions of Cs and Dod are better than the others in my opinion

lol yea i think just b/c the source is more arcade than DoD so the DoD is more campaign

Graphically speaking there is no comparison. They were just trying to balance the gameplay. I personally liked DOD and played it before source came out but the graphics, realistic sounds, and smaller maps versions made it more appealing to me.
