Thread: 1.3, its just 3.1 in reverse.

Hi all,

As you know I have a personal 1.3 server, which has been fun, its up right now. But tonight I completed work on a DoD 3.1 beta server, so now the question is, do you have half-life? If yes then will you install this steam compatible mod:

Do you want this server. Let me be clear, this is not a TPG affiliated server, but members have asked me if I would do it, and I am game for a bit of nostalgia. I can complete the config on Friday night if people want to play.

I just want to make this clear. Downloading and installing only the exe that Hannibal linked to will NOT allow you to play the game.


DoD 3.1b is when DoD was still a Half-Life mod. Therefore, you MUST also have Half-Life (not Half-Life 2) installed to play.

So do I have to have the original Day of Defeat on the old half-life engine? I have half-life and all its the expansions. Don't know what either is never played them lol But I'd play either of them whatever they are.

All you need is the original Half-Life.


Some other things to note in 3.1:

There are three paratroop maps:

para_glider
para_hedgegrow
para_kraftstoff

This mode plays like Counter-Strike. You get one life..no respawning. There are also cut scenes in these maps. (Yes, cut scenes in a multiplayer game. )


There are no player icons over teammates heads.


There is bleeding. Sometimes, when you get shot...a blood drop icon will appear on the left of your screen. You must bandage yourself or you will eventually bleed to death. This is not a server mod, this was actually part of the game back in 2002.

There is a unique "swinging" crosshair. You'll see what I mean, when you get in-game. You cannot change it.

There is no mini-map.

There is no bazooka/panzerschreck class.

Different classes walk/run at different speeds. Example: MG's are slow.

Also, if I remember correctly, you cannot pick up weapons on the ground.

I did some searching, and you may be out of luck. The game may not support widescreen resolutions.

I'm up for it. going to download tomorrow and try it out. When will you have the server and cfg up by if you go through with it?
