Hmmm football doesn't have more games because of the intensity of the sport. Yes there are hits in hockey and rugby, but it is nothing compared to what football players go through every single play. Even the contact between offensive and defensive lineman is violent enough to cause concussions....they are inches apart before contact to make that more clear. Each sport has violent hits, but not as frequently as football. That is why football is such a short season.

Ill go with football aswell, in football your getting hit every single play.. in hockey you might skate around awhile bumb a few shoulders but not be getting tackled or smeered every play

So lets all point the blame finger at him and go tell our teachers what he did wrong...that will get him in trouble. Every sport should be appreciated and respected because each one has its own set of skills that is needed to compete at such a high level.

Like to be anymore wrong? I made a joke that Baseball isn't a real sport, and someone else decided they needed to bash football (soccer), showing the typical American ignorance to the sport.

Could it be all the equipment that causes the hits to be more violent? In Rugby you just have your body to make the hits with, and in Hockey you have a stick and small light helmet. In American Football you have about 50 extra pounds of pads, helmet etc.

First off Red Lizard when I said the whole lets point the finger at you I was totally just trying to be funny. I thought you and everyone else would laugh. Didn't mean it to be offensive or to say you actually started this. I understand everything you have said and RESPECT your opinion. Secondly, yes Football players wear more equipment than any other sport but that is because they have to. It's just the nature of the game and you don't see that kind of contact in any other sport. The goal of the game is to inflict pain on the opposing team and get the football. Soccer, Hockey, basketball are finesse sports. There is hitting in hockey but for the most part that is not the goal of the sport. Football you are required to make contact with another player every second of the game.

Also if Rugby wants to have more violent hits like Football then they would need to wear equipment. The fact that Rugby doesn't have 50 pounds of equipment proves that Football is a much more violent sport. They wear it for a reason, rugby doesn't wear it for a reason.

Yes, wearing the equipment they do allows them to hit alot harder without being scared of inflicting injuries to themselves, but delivering an enormous hit on the opposing player.

You should go you tube a hockey hit highlight reel, I played hockey for 5 years, It's not as weak as you think.

Hockey hits can be HUGE! Especially because they don't have tons of equipment on. But what we are trying to say is that they aren't as frequent as football hits which are almost every single play.
