    Civ 5

In trying to play games with the romans for the achievement I've noticed that I have yet to see any iron at all out of 9 games so far with a pretty wide selection of the map uncovered in each one... that cuts out a good part of their early game advantage not being able to make the Legion unit, so I wonder is Iron more prevalent to certain map & or game types.. might make it easier to manage this

Hmmm...do you have the setting where your starting location is randomized on or off? If you have it off, then your starting location is more likely to have certain resources over others based on your faction.

Yeah. It's always a good idea to randomize your starting location. Being limited by your factions starting location is silly.

It just isn't you. Players have made mods to distribute iron evenly and show iron before ironworks. That way you can set your city better.

Roads. Connect them to iron. Win. Or just build tons of warriors. You cant go wrong with warriors

    Re: Civ 5

bah, I can get to iron working about midway to through the 2000s BC wise while on Pangea maps.. usually.. I swear to god everything is hostile more frequently on this maps for some reason and there are more barbs so it's a bit more fun challenge wise... changing the setting like Pimp suggested I didn't notice much of a difference other then not getting spawned next to deserts quite as frequently
