Skills and Leveling up
Is it me or does there seem to be 1 skill to be able to move up per level achieved? When it offeres me a new skill is there any reason I should hold it back in reserve?
In Diablo II, I wouldn't always use my skill points and I had a bunch of different things to choose from. In D3, it seems like I have one and only one selection.
Am I wrong or is this correct??Last edited by judedeath; 09-25-12 at 12:07 AM.

pretty much correct I think, but as you evel up you unlock different runes for different skills which alter them slightly. So the first one with a rune on it maybe isn't any worse than one of the later skills.
I think the skills are different as you evel up but not necessarily that much better.

Exactly, once you hit level 20/30 and have most of the slots unlocked with some extra runes, and you've turned on elective mode, that's when the game starts getting interesting on the skills side. It may not be as free form as D2 but you still have a lot of customization and choice.

OK, what exactly does elective mode do? I'm playing demon hunter and can't seem to move defensive to anything other than slot 1 and can't seem to move hunting to anything other than slot 2. Am I supposed to be able to select two defensive and put them on slot 1 and 2?

Well, that's clunky. Figured it out. Go to skills, select the number of the skill slot you want to change, use the paging buttons until you get to what you want. Figured you should be able to drag and drop from the top but you can't. You can drag on the skill bar at the bottom though.

Yeah, elective mode is definitely clunky. I love how much more variation you have compared to D2. You actually use more skills (and more often) because you don't have to throw all your skill points into 3 skills. Aside from UI, the new skill system is far better, imo.
