    All the auto cannons are better than lasers because there is less heat. Honestly Medium laser is the most you need unless you are getting a PPC, IMHO.

    Gauss rifle is the best direct fire weapon in the game currently, since it has no heat and causes a lot of damage. Most folks don't use the ac/20 at all.

    Large Laser is actually better than the PPC since the PPC has a flight delay and is a lot more heat intense. Normal PPC has a minimum range of 90m too, no point blank. The erppc doesn't have the minimum range but both are really hot and take a lot of sinks to make it efficient.

    My next test will be 2 guass rifles (if they will fit) and an lrm20 on an atlas. Should be a beast. Toss in an AMS system and good to go. Will be very ammo dependent but no need for heat sinks!

    I don't believe you can fit two gauss rifles in an atlas due to critical slot space needs. I believe the only way to mount two gauss rifles is to put them in a K2 version catapult, and even then it barely fits.

    Lots of folks use an atlas with a guass, 2 large lasers (one in each arm) and an LRM rack.

    sorry double post, what do you guys know about the commander role?

    I was playing and there was one and he had waypoints on the map and junk, didnt even know there was a commander :P

    "command" isn't implemented yet, remember its still beta. That role will come into play when they implement clan battles.

    "The command role is split into two different levels, lance and company. Lance command falls to those in charge of up to 3 other players and assist in coordinated attacks on key targets. The company commander utilizes the 2 other lance commanders and all information being relayed back to him to make global calls on the battlefield."

    The command screen is taken up by the first person to use it currently and is integrated into the map at the moment. There are plans to take it a lot further with modules and other things, but right now it is pretty basic and just puts icons on the mini map.

    The game overall is rather basic but has some strong concepts. Hopefully when they introduce community warfare and the clans it will be a much more involved game. Right now it is kinda like World of Tanks without the clan warfare.
