Re: MechWarrior Online
Oh Ok, I see what you are saying....I jut launched and I have my founders atlas in the mech lab and there are restrictions to the specific body parts. for example on the default founders atlas the left torso is 1/2 ballistic hardpoints with an ac20 and ammo eating up the entire section. The right torso is 2/2 missle hardpoints with an lrm20 srm6 1 heatsink and ammo. Center is 2/2 energy with 2 medium lasers and the engine. So yes the section hard points are defined and will play into the variant you want for a specific build.

Re: MechWarrior Online
Lots of things are found wanting when trying to find out what is on a mech in the actual mechlab itself. It is actually a failing of the game that it doesn't tell you where items are located on the mech and you have to look it up elsewhere.
Where weapons are located are extremely important since weapons on the arms are able to have a wider arc of fire than the ones on the torso.
I've seen a lot of new players that have no idea that the small circle reticle is where your arms are aiming and that the big crosshair reticle is where your torso weapons are aiming.
Also as a new player realize that if you don't hit R or have something targeted then it is impossible for your team to get locks from out of line of sight with LRMs. ALWAYS HAVE SOMETHING TARGETED! It is the only way for folks with catapults and other long range missile mechs to get locks and help you out with what is basically artillery. Also realize that narc beacons aren't homing markers like in past mechwarriors and only allow the LRM boats to target things longer when they are out of sight.
If you hate the pick up groups (pugs) then hit up the unofficial teamspeak server or join another unit. I joined up with mine and it makes the game 10 times more enjoyable, even with all the repetition and bugs that are in the game currently.

Re: MechWarrior Online
I found it interesting that in the mech lab it doesn't actually say the damage of the weapons and such. I had to look that up on the wiki. It is still in Beta and I am sure much of it will change. I am personally having a hard time with using a keyboard and mouse as controls, I need more mouse buttons maybe? I have a hard time controlling the movement with WASD and being able to hit X for all stop or C for torso centering or R for targeting while moving. I am thinking about either getting an 18 button programmable mouse or something like this

Nope! How do you spot a new player? He fires all his weapons at once and explodes in a glorious ball of noobness.
