Re: Enlighten me
Hub, you play Day-Z so you understand the random loot spawns and where and how to get the "good" stuff. Take that loot mechanic and multiply it by some very large # and that is the loot spawn in Borderlands. BL is a fairly linear mission based FPS where you have 20 main story quests along with 50-60 side quests that you can choose to do or just bypass. (maybe think along the lines of Oblivion in regards to the missions/ quests)
Its also key to remember that the more people you play with in coop the better the loot drops are. The game can be played in single player mode but it is funner with a group (especially if everyone is a different class) as the group benefits from the perks and skills of the other players.

Re: Enlighten me
When you kill a guy shit explodes from his body like ammo or cash or guns. There's also a shit ton of openable objects that do the same. 4 classes of characters(with basically 3 sub-classes each made up of skill trees). Gain XP to level up, to get skill points that go towards your skills that do stuff to your character.
You don't need to play the first one to get the story(so far), but honestly its such a funny ass game that you should. There's all kinds of references from so much shit that its just to funny not to laugh at.
Also, I'd suggest sticking to one skill tree, cause you can't move to the next tier down till you put 5 points into the one above it. And really if you do that, you could potentially play the game 12 times each time the game play would be different depending on the skill set you have.
And lastly, its way more fun with people. However, I do suggest playing through it once solo just to focus on the story and all the little jokes you may miss when other people are on. I played the first one about 3 times before I did a solo run, and I missed so many references and jokes while playing with others.
