    Destiny

Bungie just announced their new project today. No, it's not another Halo. It's called Destiny, and details are scarce, if non-existent, but I'm still eager to see how it will play out.

It seems like they might be making an MMOFPS, but honestly, no one has any clue at this point. Anyone else gonna keep an eye on it like me?

Yea been hearing about this before, it has me intrigue with the MMO combine with FPS. But from the video it seems that everyone is with the "city", so I'm guessing there is no other faction and might be pure pve environment (which I dont mind). Can't really tell much until they release more information but will be keeping an eye on it.

    Re: Destiny

Lovely quote from Jason Jones, Bungie co-founder:
“We did a bunch of ambitious things on Halo deliberately to reach out to people...We made the game run without a mouse and keyboard. And now nobody plays shooters the way they used to play them before Halo ’cause nobody wants to.”
Anyways... the idea sounds great, but I will likely never play it because it won't be on PC.

    Actually, Blah...

Destiny requires an internet connection to work • News • Eurogamer.net

On the possibility of a PC version, Parsons said: "We would absolutely love to be on the PC. If you talk to the people upstairs, we play it on all platforms. So, stay tuned."

This. Why would you make any MMO game console exclusive? Just dumb.

    Re: Destiny

    Ummm...

Alundil, correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't Dust514 an MMO? And isn't it a PS3 exclusive?

Anyways, I highly doubt that it will be a console exclusive. If you took the time to read the quote from above, you'd noticed that the person who said that is Pete Parsons, Bungie COO. Care to guess why they announced Console releases first?

Because, that's where their main fanbase is, probably.

    Re: Destiny

You are correct Option. Dust 514 is a Console only MMOFPS set in the same universe (history, lore, etc) as EVE Online. That universe is called New Eden and is roughly 20,000 years into the future of human civilization. Long after Earth as we know it ceased to be home for the species.

Dust 514 will also be the first console game to directly share "space" (same world, shared economy, currencies, items, communication, factional warfare mechanics, etc) with a PC game in real time. Dust mercenaries can join the same corporations as those in EVE, be part of the same alliances and coalitions or be mercenaries for the highest bidder. They can also shoot at ships in space from the ground, and can also be fired upon from ships in orbit. Bad assed ness.

BTW - option, when do you need/want the EVE "care package"? I haven't forgotten.
