No, there are no horses in Morrowind.

The Fighters Guild quests get better, don't worry.

Ebonheart is Southwest of Vivec IIRC. I think you can take a boat there(which is near the silt strider), but it's easily close enough to walk if I'm thinking right(it's been awhile).

Find the quest where you get that scroll that increases your Acrobatics 10,000x. Save, then use it and jump. You won't regret it. Then reload and complete the quest. I usually found this one by walking through the swamps for a while.

Don't do this, you will die just like the wizard who made it.

Yes, he died for science, you don't have to. It's proven that you need a slow-fall spell to go along with the scrolls.

I remember my morrowind days... I would leave my game up and have an auto run system setup, before you know it my running skill was pretty damn high. Same goes for jumping, swimming...etc..
Autorun at a wall for a few hours and jumping ALL THE TIME is the only way I could play Morrowind after my first playthrough. I absolutely have to level those two up a lot for me to get comfortable with my character. You should move around the world like a rabbit until your jump skill gets high.

I think you find that wizard on the road right outside the starting city if I remember correctly.

Yep, he plummets from the sky right in front of you.
