06-23-13, 06:28 PM #1Takedown: Red Sabre
Saw an article a couple days ago, and the game sounds like an FPS worth buying finally (been awhile). Going to have multi-player as well (read 6-man co-op and 12 man PvP). Hopefully, considering the focus, it will have VOIP (seems odd not to) and the tools needed to be hosted at TPG.
Granted have to see how it is at release, have no doubts from reading what the developer said it will stay a teamplay oriented game, but hopefully not bug ridden. First FPS been excited for in awhile.
Takedown Game – Squad Based Tactical Shooter » The Game
This project, working title TAKEDOWN, aims to change that. This game, the spiritual successor to games like the original Rainbow Six and SWAT series, will focus on realistic weapons modeling, squad based play, in a close-quarters battle setting. To succeed in this game you need to take things slow, study your plans, and execute flawlessly. If you get shot, there are consequences. You won’t be hiding behind a wall waiting for your health to regenerate. If a team member goes down, you will have to assess the situation and reallocate team members if necessary to complete the mission. Don’t expect all of the tools and plans to be forced fed to you – it is up to the player to ensure their team is equipped and ready for the tasks at hand.
You will plan your insertions and routes before going into the scenario, outfitting your teammates with weapons and equipment of your choosing, and then execute the mission. If one of your team members is killed, they are gone, and you have lost their valuable experience, so you have to be careful! Gameplay modes include single player, co-op, and competitive multiplayer.

Haven't checked it in awhile but just got around to it and see a release date is set, with pre-orders available on Steam now. Currently Sep. 20th is the release date:
Pre-purchase Takedown: Red Sabre on Steam
On one of the blogs it was posted (in the comments) it will have Single Player plus 6 Player Co-op, 6v6 Versus (attack/defense or Team deathmatch) and 12 man last man standing.

Oh pre-order price is $14.99, which seems pretty decent.Last edited by Red_Lizard2; 09-03-13 at 09:00 PM.

Read a review a week or so ago that seemed to pretty much say it was shit, with a terrible server browser.
This is Takedown, a woefully undercooked hardcore shooter that undercuts its occasional, but very genuine moments of tension with AI failures or just generally shoddy design. Enemy behaviour offends most grievously and most often: the AI just seems unaware what’s happening around it, ignoring silenced weapons peppering bullet holes into nearby walls.
Still buggy apparently as well.

So, if you don't know, the game is now $1.49 on Steam until Feb. 17th.
Save 90% on Takedown: Red Sabre on Steam
Plus, it's buy one get one free so the game is 75 cents.
I know a few of us TPG'ers now have it:

Should we get a game going?

We tried it out last night, the game can be pretty fun - but is super tough. It's so easy to get killed you have to move real slow and check every corner.
The menus are a little wonky and sometimes it doesn't register your choices like class or weapon. But the levels and the gun mechanics are solid, in game VoIP works, and it's cheap as dirt right now. There 3 different game modes which you can do 6-man coop or vs and the enemy placement is somewhat randomized so the missions play out a little different each time. There's also multiple insertion points on every map. You can have half the team drop in on the roof while the other team starts in the basement, or anything in between
There's a decent selection of weapons, attachments, and ammo types and a shooting range that let's you test them all out. It has a 33/100 on metacritic which is fair but a little harsh in my opinion.
