Edit: I can't even get this game to run, so maybe I'll revisit it another time. If a mod could delete the thread, nothing productive will probably come of this thread.

Re: America's Army: Proving Grounds?
AAPG in hard core mode is much more like the tactical old school FPS many love. I urge you to try a Hard Core server. Its much more challenging, lethal, more about the immersive experience. In normal mode there are lots of HUD elements for the modern FPS player, but with hard core, all this comes out and you must communicate and work with your team closely, move slower, watch your sector of fire, watch your buddy's back, ID targets before pulling that trigger. The specs for hard core appear to be as follows. Hope this is helpful and will encourage people to come check it out
Hardcore mode removes the following HUD elements when compared to normal game play:
No Player Count (on both the HUD and the Scoreboard)
No activity message Feed
No Crosshair or center screen info (includes messages for the medic timer, objective timer, etc.)
No Scoring and Coin notifications
No Teammate 3D names and icon pips (NOTE: names of teammates show up within like 100ft)
No enemy Hit indicators
No Player Hints (i.e. "you can support your weapon here")
Hardcore leaves ON the following (listed with a probable reason why):
Match Timer (Explanation: this would be the substitute for your wristwatch)
Damage Indicator (Explanation: you intuitively "know" the general direction from where you were shot)
Health and Ammo (Explanation: you know how many mags you have just by looking down and you know when you are bleeding)
In-world spot (enemy spotted) 3D icon pip (Explanation: you can point out enemy location or use a hand held device like
blue force tracker.
Objective Icons (Explanation: gamification requires knowing where objectives are especially if they are moving like the
guidon flag)
Radar (Explanation: substitute for awareness of team position and immediate surroundings simulating peripheral vision,
quick look, etc.)
In hardcore Life/Health/Damage are handled as follows:
if shot in the head you are out for the round (no recapacitation)
the number of time you can be revived (if incapacitated by body shots) per round is limited to 1
you can bleed out
ROE and Friendly Fire/Spectate/Team speak
Friendly Fire takes full damage from weapons. No 3D icons over your teammates so check your fire!
you cannot spectate your own body when incapacitated (no ghosting)
you cannot talk on Team channel when incapacitated
Global talk channel seems to be a server option (admin can allow of restrict)
player Team Text Chat and Global Text Chat while Incapacitated are possible so I guess you can talk smack this way while you
are raging for being taken out.Last edited by stile7; 09-01-13 at 09:24 PM.

Re: America's Army: Proving Grounds?
Just finished playing this for the first time. It's still in beta even though they said it was releasing by now, but its pretty solid for game play. Some issues with controls and setting resolutions and what not but I had a lot of fun. The people playing aren't like CSS or CSGO guys though. I pissed one attacker off defending our base, which was their objective to get to, instead of spreading away from our base like everyone else on my team. Killed two guys trying to sneak around the back way and one of the guys I shot got SUPER pissy about me 'camping' their objective.
