So, I wonder if the OS launch will be anything like the Steam launch in 2003? Anyone who remembers it, will remember that it WAS NOT good.

no, native. A lot of their titles (especially valve's) have already been converted.

That I am aware of.

But imo there is less draw to purchase the steam box (ostensibly running steam os) to connect to big tv to play steam library games if the available titles is based only on those with built in support for linux "out of the box".

There is not a large number of titles, comparatively, that are designed to support linux as far as I know.
