Re: Star Citizen
Good point on the two tier player setup. I think that as long as they balance the game effectively it won't be too noticeable though. It's not a typical RPG where it's more about time spent in game and not raw skill. I think in SC raw skill could make up for a huge advantage gap in equipment. I know in Freelancer I took on jobs well above my recommended skill ability and won most of the time because I was a very skilled pilot.
Roberts IS a gamer so I don't think he'll sell out his dream. He's just making the right business choice: when people throw money at you; you take it. And $43 million later they're still throwing it at him!

Re: Star Citizen
I'm in the same boat as you. I have a HOTAS setup and am not sure what I need since these games have been catering to the mouse and keyboard pilots for so long. I bought my stick to fly in BF4 and PS2. Got frustrated trying to map keys to joystick functions and then shelved the JS.
When it comes to flying, I miss being the CO of my CAS squadron in WW2OL.Blah64 liked this post

Re: Star Citizen
I tried playing with an xbox controller last night and even though I found the controls quite interesting, you're going to be at a big disadvantage.
the left stick was bank up down + rudder left right
Click the stick in and it disables coupled which makes it roll left and right instead of rudder left + right.
Then..... if at any time you held in the left trigger it changed the left stick to strafe up/down/left/right
So basically you can't strafe and bank or roll at the same time.... I wish they moved some of those controls the the other stick instead of that one being dedicated to head movement.....
also the throttle controls sucked, the bumpers were more/less throttle, double tapping the left bumper reset throttle to 0
I don't see how you're going to be able to do anything playing with a controller, and I didn't even look into what mouse/kb looked like.-- Intentionally Left Blank --

Re: Star Citizen
I have a mental block with the joystick I own right now. (had to word that carefully) Like many people in our generation I started gaming with a joystick. They were everywhere. All arcade cabinets had them and they invaded the home when the PC market blew up and nearly every game had preferred support for a joystick but after 16 some odd years when they phased out the joystick on mainstream games in favor of keyboard and mouse controls I find it hard to go back. It will take time but for now to familiarize myself with this game I might stick to my xbox controller.
