I picked it up quite a while back when it was $5 but never got around to playing it because every time I tried it would minimize every time I clicked near the borders of the game. Sad days.

Are you sure you weren't in windowed mode? I never had that problem using mouse/keyboard or the xbox controller.

Also, if you play it again, install the unofficial patches regardless of whether or not you want to use other mods.

There are texture mods that use the same amount of resources essentially that look much nicer. Check out the Skyrim Nexus. It'll be on sale probably in about 8 days or so for the Holiday Sale.

There's some legit companion mods I found on the nexus last time I played. Like that traveling rogue chick, devs got a real voice actor, wrote her some clever dialogue and some great side quests
