Does anyone still play BF2?

well, it works. However, my PunkBuster keeps not updating because evenbalance doesn't support it anymore. there's some suggestions on how to fix it there.

I still have my original CDs (3 of them) for BF2 and original CDs for Special Forces (2 of them). Also have the license codes.

What I don't have is Windows. Somewhere I have XP and license (last Windows I ever bought), but I don't think I want to put XP on any machine of mine that faces the internet.

I do have a couple external drives, and so it seems like the best path forward is using Bootcamp to dual-boot to Windows. Is Win7 a reasonable choice? What's the cheapest/best way to get that?

It still feels iffy - I've got to set up the bootloader, install and update Windows from scratch, install and update BF2 from scratch, fuck around with inevitable graphics nonsense, etc.

[also, um, can I even still login with my 'account' ? Do I still have my unlocks?]

So - issues to solve, but in principle I'm in.

Absolute cheapest: acquire 7/8/8.1. Upgrade to 10 since MS doesn't care about how you got those versions. Jokes aside, Windows 10 is supposed to have fewer compatibility problems with older programs than 7/8/8.1.

I'm getting errors trying to join a server. Will have to play around with it more. Something about a shader.

which server? There was a server I could never connect to.
I'm on WIndows 10 with a GTX980 (that should be adequate for BF2, right?

If punkbuster isn't active, maybe SweetFX+ENB?

If I go through the bl connector I get the error. If I get bf2 to boot up and go through the server list in it the game crashes. Sorry wasn't very clear in my post.
