DOOM is Here

I'm only 2 hours in and this game is exceeding every expectation I had. (Save for the fact that the SLI support is trash, had to disable one of my 980s to stop the stutter - new NVidia driver is out soon though).

The combat is fast and BRUTAL. Enemies climb up walls, flank you, and take advantage of every misstep, reload, and stray glance. Forget what you saw with the multiplayer in the beta - the Campaign is what this game is all about and it's friggin epic. And the soundtrack is blowing my mind. Heavy metal and fat bass drops as you pommel your way through hordes of the enemy. This is every bit the most true and deserved reboot that the franchise needed.

I'm gonna try and get a full written review together for TPG over the next couple of days unless someone beats me to it.

I pre-ordered it. Then my PSU died. I ordered my new PSU and now realized I don't have enough space to load the game. Will have to clear something off once I get everything ready this weekend. Very upsetting.

I enjoyed the third DooM a great deal. But I enjoyed it because it was slow, not a lot of ammo, and demons jumped out at you from no where.

I rarely jump or get scared with a game but that one.... That part where you are going down the scaffolding and stuff right at the very beginning of the game. There's a point where one of the scientists jumps out and goes "HEY! Wait!"

I totally pooped myself, spun around and blew the guy away.

LOL War, I had that same reaction.

Bioshock had some legit scares, like when you pick up the tommy-gun on the stage and then the lights go out? My heart...

The first FEAR did me in good as well. I remember whimpering in the corner with the flashlight just hoping that maybe I wouldn't have to go through the door with blood coming out of it. Unfortunately...I always had to go through the door with blood coming out of it

New DOOM isn't really scary like that kind of scary, more just like "OMG there's like 5 Hell Knights trying to rip my legs off and I only have 2 bullets left!" kinda scary.

So I started playing Doom and it has far exceeded my expectations. It goes back to the roots with the mission style game play and individual level maps. Very satisfied.
