<a href=http://arstechnica.com/reviews/games/a-different-kind-of-rapture-a-review-of-bioshock.ars/1>I chose something impossible. I chose Rapture</a>
The Good:
* Excellent story, voice acting, and setting
* Nearly limitless combat possibilities
* High replay value
* Excellent PC and 360 versions
* Plot twists galore
* Length is well over 20 hours, more if you take your time and explore
The Bad:
* One or two annoying quests
* Subtitle issues
* It ends
The Ugly:
* Just how high the bar has been raised for any other game hoping to get a Game of the Year nod

So far, I am impressed with the graphics.
The let down is how fluid the enemies move. They are nothing compared to source games. The other thing I dont like is that there is no walk key. It is always run. I kind of wanted to walk through some of the map to enjoy the graphics.
The other thing is the animations when you kill enemies. It kind of reminds me of Oblivion, which was... er, pretty bad when you kill enemies. The other issue is the gunplay and the size of the guns. The gunplay isnt as good as HL2 (its hard to beat perfection), and the guns take up too much of the screen.
I havent finished the demo, but so far I think I want to wait for Crysis for better gunplay.

Well, I like it so far. I just have one problem with the PC version... the horridly unnecessary level of DRM 2K's publisher made them use. Not only do you have to "activate" the game, apparently it also installs securROM on your system and it limits the number of "reactivations" to TWO (although apparently they're going to raise that to five... gee, thanks) before you have to not call, but mail a photocopy of the disc in order to get them to unlock it.... oh, and you still have to have the goddamn DVD in the drive to play even after all those hoops.
What the fucking fuck?

*sigh* Way to stain a fun game.

Re: Bio shock
I picked up the PC version last night and when I bought it i was contemplating getting the Xbox version instead but opted for the PC vers. due to graphics. Does anyone know how the Xbox vers. holds up graphics wise compared to the PC vers. (using a mid-range system)?

Thanks Deus! I have an 8800gts(640 flavor) so I figured I had made the right decision but on occasion games look better on the Xbox and the gameplay for some reason is more fluid.
I may have to hook the 360 controller up to my PC to see if it plays the same

Re: Bio shock
Can't run it (properly.) My system's probably just too old, though I think my proc could handle it if I kept it on low settings. My aging 9600XT doesn't seem to support Shader 3.0, however, which means that I don't get to see very much, judging from the demo.
I'll probably just rent an Xbox 360 and play it on that, since I have a friend who's dying to play it too.
