Bioshock to be made a Movie

Still haven't played it yet, probably be a while before I can. But I thought the movie adaptation of Silent Hill wasn't too bad - far better than virtually every other game-to-movie adaptation I've ever seen - so maybe Hollywood has finally reached a point where they can stay at least somewhat close to the original material.

Also, the halo movie got put on hiatus by the studio. Tends to happen when you turn in a movie budget near 200 mil. Script was written by Alex Garland (28 Days Later) and it would be directed by Neill Blomkamp. He hasn't directed anything big, but he did do the Halo Landfall short film series. He also did a short that is a particularly good watch called "Alive in JoBurg". let me find the link, oh and Peter Jackson is the producer.

pfffft Everquest has much more of an epic story line to it than wow....hands down..if an mmo was made into a movie ....it'd be EQ. Aside from that.

Johnny, how long have you been playing FPS?? Bioshock has won awards. Its a damn good game. If you didnt like it then there somethign wrong up stairs. I think you look at flash and appearace more than yo udo the other vital points aof a good fps....the AI changes, DX10 textures, awesome physics, unique weapons (plasmids, who the fuck else has plasmids), numerous factors that need to be taken into account before you say a game,,,,sucks.

well first off i dont base my judgements on the fact a game has won awards...mainly cause halo 3 won awards and i cant stand that game. second of all, the enemies are splicers in different suits and costumes throughout the game, and the big daddys were well...uninteresting after the 5th one, so ai remained quite the same. third its MY OPINION, i thought the game was going in a great direction, the plasmids were awesome, then the ending came along and wow was it laaame. im glad you and basically everyone else enjoyed it, but for me, i found it an OKAY game

World of Warcraft has no real storyline. The Warcraft games, however, do have a solid storyline (at least, until Metzen started butchering it so new additions to WoW would make sense...) and it's from them that a movie would spring forth. But, personally, I wouldn't want to see a Warcraft movie. Nor would I be much interested in a Diablo or Starcraft movie.

You've pretty much already seen them... Aliens with some things from Predator is basically Starcraft... And there are many similarities between Diablo and Lord of the Rings.

Bioshock's atmosphere and setting are definitely awesome, but the story's just not going to pan out for a movie. The whole Half-life style first person character with no face or voice essentially shoehorns the player right into the story. There is no Jack- it's you. You can't reproduce that in a theater unless they cast each and every viewer as the main character. Which would actually be really cool. They'd probably be better off setting the movie before the game happens, showing Rapture fall to pieces before the player shows up.

Not gonna get my hopes up. With Halo's failure to make it as a movie that sent me into a deep depression, and the pathetic waste of times that most movies-adapted-from-videogames have become, I'm going to reserve judgement until I see a few actual previews. My only hope is that they get John Williams, James Newton Howard, or Hans Zimmer to do the soundtrack and actually choose to spend some money on the digital animation (God, "I Am Legend" was a horrible disappointment as far as graphics go!) instead of a big name actor or two. And may the Lord have mercy upon our souls if they get Hayden Christensen to star in this movie.
