Re: FLight combat sims
1946 version is that the full game or is it a Expansion.
Ever played a flight sim called Combat Flight Simulate 3 AI in that was pretty funny. 70% of your squad mates die from flight accidence's during missions , thayéd shot there wingmen down they fly into the ground. One time i had my wing Equipped with 2000 IB bombs. We where taking off and one of them Dropped it during take off Blow us all to fucking pieces.
Yes it funny now yes but not when it happened lol.

CFS 3 is a HORRIBLE game. If you want it to even be playable you need to buy the Firepower expansion from A2A Simulations. Even then the AI is still awful and the mission system is terrible. The graphics are pretty yucky looking as well and the flight modeling is just plain wrong in some cases. Stay away from CFS 3 and don't let it sway your opinion of Combat Flight Sims in general.
The 1946 box is actually two full games and the cool part is it has every single expansion for/and includes the original IL-2 Sturmovik game. The other "full" game is 1946 which was going to marketed stand alone but was instead bundled with IL-2 in the box. It pretty much acts as just another add-on. Good deal for the money. All of those expansions and games were worth about $100 separately.

Re: FLight combat sims
I played a bit of LOMAC with a Saitek X45 (I think you have to have one of those zillion-button HOTAS setups to play these games they way they should be played). I'm not a hardcore sim-mer but I enjoyed the game and the graphics were much better than Falcon's. You also have the choice of 5 or 6 flyable aircraft as opposed to just one.
One thing I've never seen improved upon was Falcon's dynamic campaign system. That is astonishing. You can fly around and tune your radio to the frequencies of other strike packages and listen to them call out targets, request landing, etc. You can also completely deviate from your planned mission and go bomb whatever you want. When you get back to base, the results of your efforts on the overall war are displayed. LOMAC isn't nearly that detailed.
