Operation Flashpoint 2 team Have not Released Any thing Definitive or concrete On there Game All they have Really shown is a couple of Video's And Some intervenes and very Early promises for There Game That we should not take at Face Value. don't get me Wrong Im exited Too we All are here. This Could be The Next Battlefield 2 game For me so i am Very eagre For it Success.
But what i am saying Is do Not take there Promises At face Value. Quake wars was promised Too be the Next Battle field So did Frontlines there was a huge Media Hype and Lot of Very sugary promises made by the Developers And look what Happed they went and Blew up Right in are faces.
When I was Watching the Interview with Clive On Flashpoint AI and how it was built too make decision Give the Tactical Situation, Then they Show as A very Short game play Footage of The AI advancing behind Some APC Armoured Vehicles. They said Yes as you can see the Ai as made a decision too use the APC as cover and Advance behind the APC's as they go too attack that Position and that they made the decision completely by them self‘s, Where's the definitive proof
It could have been scripted too do That. where's the evidence that supports the Clame that the AI is adaptive and smart. there is none.
But don't Worry guys There is enough game Coming along Called ARMA 2 as you all know. It been criticized and Shunned by the Gaming Community saying it looks like ARMA 1 what's the difference it sucks it Shit it fugly Blah blah blah/ But that was in the Early Stages of Development it could pull it self up out of The mud as it where and Really shine. Though again the AI might not Be some thing desirable. ARMA 1 had The most stupid AI iv seen in a long time which is unacceptable in a Tactical shooter.

Game AI is really just an expert system. General AI is far more reaching than what we see in a game. In a game, in this case at least, it needs to model itself after a very small (relatively speaking) set of data. "Am I getting shot at?" "What kind of cover do I have?" "Should I attack or avoid?" etc etc. And every bit of that can be scripted using a language like LUA (popular scripting language for games).
I'm pretty sure I owned Flashpoint. And I'm also pretty sure I liked it a lot, but it was also horrible in that the maps were HUGE, the game was lethal, and travel to the hot-spots took forever. You would run for five minutes only to get sniped and die immediately upon getting to where you were going.
I'm hoping that FP2 is as good as they are saying and the videos implied. But in order for it to be a playable game for me, it'll have to be done on smaller maps. I'm not going to play for an hour only to get 2 or 3 minutes of actual fighting.

I'm not missing the point of anything...
But in order for it to be a playable game for me, it'll have to be done on smaller maps.
I like a tactical game that is nowhere near as lethal and you can take some hits, repair, and go on to do some more damage.
