Looking for a new game, and i love the tactical shooters so curious what are some of the good ones you have played?
For me the one that sticks out the most is Swat 4, the A.I. isn't terrible and it really is pretty suspenseful because you don't know when you go into the room if its going to be a cake walk or hell. I think its pretty good and the Swat series usually is.
Also played Swat 3 which is interesting but your teammates are well, idiots quite a bit so it makes it much harder to play then Swat 4 where your teammates have some brains (when they want to)

I thought Vegas was good, haven't played through the whole thing since it wasn't my copy. Hesitated to include it just because of some people didn't feel it was tactical but i thought it was *shrugs*
The hard thing with Swat is you don't go in trying to kill the baddies, you have to follow the ROE the L.A. Swat follow (iirc) so it can be kind of tricky at times.

SWAT 4 was a pain in the ass after about halfway through. You can't kill the shitbags, you have to incapacitate them, your idiot teammates can't get shot or killed, etc. You end up replaying the same fuckin mission like six times over, hunting for the one shitbag that's eluded you the whole time in the corner of some damn room you already cleared twice, and oh hey retard teammate #3 died, start over.
sigh.

The highlight is "police brutality" when you encounter a civilian that won't fucking listen and go prone for you. You then get to beat them in the head with the stock of your rifle/shotgun/SMG or zap them with a taser. It takes points away from you (OMG POLICE BRUTALITY) but it's very satisfying. Just imagine the face of a really annoying coworker on the model and you're good to go. Just don't kill them.

Re: Tactical Shooters
Vegas was ok, but I wouldn't really call it tactical, more of a typical third person cover FPS, ala Gears of War, albeit a little slower paced.
I know they're not really shooters, per se, but I've gone back to the Splinter Cell series recently. Forgot how much fun being a ninja was.
Aside from that, if you have a 360, it might be worth checking out the Ghost Recon:AW series. Got some good gaming out of the second one, especially.
Sadly, true tactical games have been pretty absent from the gaming scene since Rainbow Six went mainstream. Full Spectrum Warrior is pretty decent if you can get past the dated graphics and haven't played it already. Just don't bother with the expansion. Oh, and Brothers In Arms:Hell's Highway has a pretty good squad mechanic that's worth playing if you're not sick to death of WWII games.

If you can get a group together, AA can be a good Tactical game with like Vent or TS running. AA 3.0 is probably the best Tactical game coming out in the near future.
