Fallout: New Vegas is an upcoming game announced by Bethesda Softworks on April 20, 2009 at its London showcase. While New Vegas is not a direct sequel, it will use the same engine and be in the same style as Fallout 3 and will be developed by Obsidian Entertainment, a company founded by developers who left Black Isle Studios. Based on the title, it will be set in Las Vegas. It has a projected release date of 2010 and will be available on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.The game will probably take place in post-apocalyptic Las Vegas, which was previously only mentioned in the first Fallout. The story will not be related in any way to the one in Fallout 3.Fallout: New Vegas is being developed by Obsidian Entertainment, a company founded by Feargus Urquhart and Chris Avellone, two of the makers of Fallout 2 (originally at Black Isle Studios). It is not currently known whether Avellone and Urquhart will be involved. The entire development team is not yet known, but it is known that the project is led by J.E. Sawyer, one of the lead designers of Van Buren, the canceled Fallout 3 project by Black Isle Studios.
Known developers:
* J.E. Sawyer - project director and lead designer
* John R. Gonzalez - lead creative designer
* Akil Hooper - designer
* Scott Everts - designer
* Eric Fenstermaker - designer
* Fryda Wolff - sound designer
* Theresa Treadwell - associate producer
* Brian Menze - artist
* Sean Dunny - artist
* Chris Tencati - gameplay programmer
Other people at Obsidian who worked on previous Fallout games include Chris Jones, Chris Parker, Darren Monahan and Jesse Reynolds. At least some of them are likely to be on the New Vegas team.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Good stuff. I'd love some multiplayer for Fallout, though... co-op would be pretty fun, though then they'd have to design good companions and companion AI if they went that route for playing solo.
Hell, a Fallout MMO would be pretty fun I'd think.
Regardless, I'll be looking forward to this title, especially if they can get rid of all the damned CTD errors.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I just think it'd be easier to simply design the game around you having a companion throughout the process, that way you can play online or offline. But again, that'd require decent companion AI (companion AI in FO3 is terrible, to put it lightly) and ideally you'd need a companion that'd actually be useful and not just a token meatshield.
They'd also need to add in a good interface for interacting with your AI companion...
And, yeah, a Fallout MMO could potentially be pretty badass. But I'd rather see a good War40k MMO first

I think this game will be "meh".
Not because it will be worse but simply because it will be just as good as Fallout3 was. And people will be expecting some new shit...or something."Murder and marriage aren't too much unlike each other, one ends your life, and the other is a crime"
