Characters stored locally?!

Unlike many online rpg games, your character data is stored on your local computer for borderlands. Beware if you want to reinstall the game or reinstall your OS. I lost all my toons last night doing a reinstall. Stupid me for thinking that character info would be stored on a server for an online game.

There are not servers in borderlands. Everything runs off of the host's computer when you join the game, much like most Console play goes.

Which also means cheating is and will be pretty rampant.

Considering the way the game is set up (Co-op PvE) there is not really any reason players that are cheating need to effect your games.

I generally just play with TTPers and haven't seen one person with an obviously modified character yet.

Well, just play solely with TTPers and you won't (hopefully) run into that problem.

I hope not.

At least for your first few rounds through the story, play legit. You'll generally have more fun overcoming challenges with your buddies than you ever will walking through the game with an overpowered god of a character.

I do think they make the game hosted by servers, and add a 4v4 pvp thing.

generally, if it's not pay to play, your info is stored on your end. That's where fees come into place... cause you are paying them to store your shit, and take care of virtually everything for you. As everyone else said, play with ttpers and there should be no problems with cheaters =P
