    Thoughts on MW2

    Well, I got it, and I've been playing it for about a week. Overall it's a pretty good game, just as good as the first if not better. The Single player is good, co op is a nice touch, and the multiplayer honestly seems better than the first one. Even without a dedicated servers you could see the potential for this game. If IW simply balanced the game out a little more, it would've been perfect.

    In all honesty, I enjoy it, but I can't help but think if IW waited a little longer and worked on the game for another year it could've been amazing. But there's too many flaws with the multiplayer, some from the last game are still there, but there are some things that just did not make any since.

    1. Silenced shotguns and lmgs? In a game going for realism this is rather odd, last time I checked there weren't any silencers for 12 gauge and large fully automatic weapons.

    2. Dual wielding shotguns? Way too powerful, with as many 1 shot kill weapons as there are this is too much. The Akimbo is a cool idea, but it shouldn't have been used on shotguns.

    3. Double Tap and Deep Impact were reborn as attachments in this game (Rapid Fire and Full Metal Jacket). But Stopping Power is still a perk? Why? Why not make it an attachment as well and call it high caliber?

    4. The combat knife as a melee weapon didn't really bother me in the previous games. But with the addition of commando and the tactical knife attachment, people literally abuse the hell out of this thing. It's just ridiculous, think of what would happen if a Spy were constantly able to face stab people without fail. Sam basic thing, at least in 2142 you had to switch weapons, and then attempt to knife. Most of the time you ended up dead.

    5. Shotguns as secondary weapons is ok, but a full auto shotgun plus a fully automatic rifle? That's just absurd, you're basically an unstoppable killing machine with no weaknesses. If you have a m16 and a striker, you're enemies are constantly walking into a meat grinder.

    Basically, there's just so many things that I wonder, why? I'm kinda glad they didn't add dedicated servers to this game, it's clear IW wants this to be a blatant halo rip off. Not a game that's for competitive play or teamwork, I honestly doubt it would've lasted long with it's own ttp server.

    Idea for a new song, "The Patch that never comes". It has its truck load of problems that wont get fixed.

    I agree with most of those points. It's a really fun game, but there's a lot of imbalanced garbage. Some akimbo weapons in general are a little...out there. But it's mainly just the shotguns, as dual wielding handguns is not only feasible but also not really that overpowered. Once you hit machine pistols, namely G18s and M93 Rafficas, it gets out of hand.

    There's also a commonly-exploited error (I'm assuming it was a lapse in judgement) with the knifers, where if you hold a care package marker, you run 40% faster or some trash like that. Add Marathon, add Lightweight, add Commando, and you get this.

    Grenade launchers were not balanced at all.

    The ACR is overpowered.

    The Chopper Gunner killstreak is overpowered.

    Semtex is almost objectively better than the grenade.

    The spawn system is the bottom-of-the-barrel worst load of garbage that I've ever seen in a game.

    I'll disagree with you partially on silencers just because there is a noticeable repercussion in range for using them--But you're right about it being unrealistic. More and more though, the spawn system is annoying me more than anything else. That is of course disregarding hackers and glitchers, which are now so common that I'm leaving about one in five rounds I join because of them. "Hurr hurr hurr! I can be awesome and cool and kill tons of n00bs with my l33t h4x!!!1 I'm so good at this because I can see through walls and they can't! lolz!1"

    The spawn system is still better than Cod4's.

    I Cod4 I:

    Spawned in front of a bullet.

    On top of a grenade

    Under an airstrike

    In front of an enemy


    At least twice every game. It now happens once every 2-3 games. Stopping power actually seems useless to me now . . . I switched all of my classes to classes with out stopping power, and I don't even notice a difference.

    Most of the guns seem pretty balanced, each gun has it's own place in the game, and I have been able to use every gun (except for the F2000) with some efficiency, the F2000 is just a piece of shit. After getting my 10th nuke and the emblem, I am using predator missle/emergency airdrop/Ac130 just for shits. Overall fun game, but it gets repetitive very quickly. Good thing there are a lot of game types to keep things fresh.

    While were talking MW2, one annoying problem is the knife. Anytime i knife somebody and die first, when i spawn i finally knife. Has anybody done that with a tactical insertion and kill the guy who just knifed you? It would be ownage if that were to happen.

    The spawn system is pretty bad, i always find my self getting speed knifed from somebody with a care package and with marathon pro, light weight pro and cant even move out of the spawn.

    I've been playing it non-stop on the 360... Team Deathmatch ftw... It's the only game mode people play, and that's why (imo) that it's a console game.. and TTP doesn't host it.

    I love it though. It's always good to get some TDM in, it relieves stress that builds up.
