Is anyone else worried for battlefield 3???
So if you haven't heard bf3 was annouced by EA in form a beta for the speacial addition of MoH.The bad thing is that it will be a console game too.
Is anyone else worried about this? We've already heard all the console excuses, why should everyone have to spend $5000 on a pc,we prefer using a tv over a monitor,pc eltist/fanboy,pc gameing is dead,it can be a great game for all platfroms, why should PC have excuslives?,blablablabla.
The best case senario for a port is bf2/bf2142 with destruction, more unlocks and improved team play learned form past mistakes. But even then DICE will say, well we've imrpoved on bf2,so why are you complaining? Most likely we will get less than 64 players, maybe 64.The players size and ui will might only be the features the PC gets.Maybe mods can save us but thats not likely.
I hope they do what they did for battlefield 2,make 2 games.Battlefield 2 and battlefield 2 modern combat.Console gamers seem to like that game alot for some reason.
But back on topic,do ou think bf3 will move the series forward,or do you think console infulence will hold it back?Last edited by PvtPrivate; 08-08-10 at 06:04 PM.

My personal opinion is consoles are gonna hold it back. Less things you can do with a controller, more you can do with a Keyboard and mouse. Plus the mouse in my opinion is MUCH more accurate than a stick on a controller. I think its gonna flop....

Exactly. But I have a good feeling they won't screw it up too much. It seems Bad Company series were released as part of development of Frostbite (their new engine) both to "learn as they go" and get money. In the end, the final goal of it all would be BF3 (hopefully) - which will "blow everyone away"
Hopefully they make "Modern Combat" version for the consoles and get it over with.

After seeing how badly they've screwed up BC2 and STILL have not fixed issues that have been around since day 1, I'm definitely worried about BF3. The Frostbite engine is a console to PC port, so any game based on it will technically be a console to PC port. DICE has lost my confidence in their products and what they do with BC2 over the coming months will likely make my decision for me on BF3. If major issues like VOIP go unfixed, I can guarantee you I won't invest another dime in DICE games.

trying to find the link to the story i read on it...
but the gist of it was, it's using FB2 engine and that it's being developed in console and PC form separately. They did not want to port but make version specific to the platform. Therefore, they were not going to release any kind of timeframe (ETA) so the developers had plenty of time without regards to owning up to marketing BS.

FB2 as in Frostbite 2?
As in newer and better and hopefully better funcationality for PC?
Hmm, I'd be very interested read the article.
As Wile said though, after the issues with BC2 and seeing what the MoH beta looks like, I'm not very confident that BF3 will be what everyone has been wanting/expecting. Hell the MoH beta doesn't even have working VoIP let alone chat. You try to type something and nothing appears and you then get stuck and cannot move until you are killed.
I know it is beta, we would hope they'd be fixed by release but we thought that with BC2 and that clearly didn't and hasn't happened yet.
I hope the article Kontankerous is referring to is accurate though. I would still love to read it if you can find it.
