Thread: Server - Redux

Two points to mention:

1) Remember that MY server is a mirror of what TPG looked like about a week ago (give or take) but it's a TEST right now to make sure it's stable and able to run mobs correctly. It WILL not be permanent in it's current state. I will be asking Bunni for a copy of the world files again on 1/15 (assuming point #2 happens on schedule) and it will again be a mirror of what it looks like on TPG in a more permanent form.

2) The hardware server is up and running (though not running minecraft yet) and being burned in to make sure it's stable. Next friday it will be getting moved from here to it's new location at my hosting center (well, not MY hosting center but the one we use for my job) where it will be placed in a rack with 1/2 DS3 up/down speed (20mbit up/20mbit down). Bandwidth certainly won't be a problem. And it's in Chicago so it's mostly central to everywhere US and Canada. At that point the IP will change and I'll be handing it out to the people that want it.

I want IP. It sounds somewhat necessary to play :P

It's not up yet. Stick to TPG for now if you plan to do any major building, so that when it ports over, the updates go with it

Not to mention I don't have an IP provisioned for my box yet. If you are already on my test box you can play around all you want. If not, PM me for it, or wait until I announce that the new box is up and running.

Sigh... Our trip to the data center is postponed until Feb 5. So I'll be bringing the server home with me likely tonight or tomorrow and putting it on cable until that time.

Upside... I can probably ask Bunni for the world files and make this thing permanent before this weekend.

Downside... Come February we might have a day of downtime while it gets transported north.

Big deal :P, can't wait for the dedicated box to get up and running.

be nice to do it tonight. Maybe someone other than the 4 people who have been currently will actually PLAY.
