    Dead Space 2: TPG Worthy?

Forgive me if this should be posted in another forum, but I generally know you TF2 players the most so I wanted to hear your thoughts.

Dead Space 2 is coming out on the 25th, Tuesday I believe. And it's looking to be a fantastic game. What I wonder though, is if anyone here is interested in it's multiplayer aspect. From watching the beta videos, it looks like it focuses very heavily on teamplay in order to win.

You've got 4(?) survivors working towards an objective while there are an equal amount of player-controlled Necromorphs trying to take them down. There's also AI controlled Necromorphs to impede progress. Regardless of which side you're on though, going out alone is never an option.

There's a bit of a class system going on too for the Necromorph team. You have the Pack who can run fast and deals strong melee damage, but looks to be low on health. It looks maneuverable enough to do some good evasive maneuvers. Scouts anyone?

There's the Lurker who's able to crawl on walls and shoot spines from long distances. It's tiny and hard to hit, but has the weakest melee as I've seen. It perfect for attacking from high places, and takes ambush to a new level.

Last there's the Spitter/Puker that can lob balls of slime at enemies. It's much bigger and probably slower than a Lurker, but would be much more suited to mid-range harassing. It works wonders when it has cover to pop in and out of.

The survivors have some nice customization too, you can unlock different weapons for different situations. They basically have a machine gun to start and a pistol. But they're also capable of strong melee swings and stomps. On their own, a one on one attack on a survivor gets a Necromorph torn to shreds, but add just one more attacker and you have yourself a fight for life. Surviors are also capable of tearing Necromorphs off their teammates should they get grappled (which every Necromorph has an attack as such). Survivors are also able to do friendly fire damage too, coordination would be key!

I probably sound like a sales blurb right now. But I think Dead Space 2 would be a great addition to TPG's repertoire. The videos I've seen so far showed morons playing and trying to be Rambos, and it was fun seeing them torn to shreds. I'd love to see a well-oiled team try this though, with survivors watching each other's backs and Necromorphs coordinating ambushes and strategic defense.

So, what do you think? Check out some vids on Youtube if you want (I don't know how to post links :P) I know for sure I'm getting it already. But I'd love to play this with the Teamplayers!

It would be better to place this in either the Suggestions forum or just the Game Discussion forum.

I agree with Rob though, it sounds a lot like L4D2 the way it is setup.

Firstly thanks for moving this, I had no idea where would be the best place to put it.

As for it being like L4D2, is that really a bad thing? I liked that game, but as far as I've seen it's dead to these servers. So long as that chart on the side of the page is anything to go by.

The thing is though, the only thing you needed teammates for in L4D2 was to get a Hunter or Jockey off of you when you're caught. Otherwise everyone just fends for themselves and goes after zombies as they please. Dead Space looks a lot more like you need people watching your back, or in Necromorphs' cases you need help if you want to take down a survivor.

I also like Dead Space's objective modes. More variety than just making it to the next safehouse.

In any case. I firstly wanted Dead Space 2 for the main story mode. Come for the epic story, stay for the (hopefully) awesome multiplayer.

    Dead Space 2: TPG Worthy?

Re: Dead Space 2: TPG Worthy?

Sorry, my comment was meant to be a neutral observation. I haven't played a lot of Dead Space, but played the demo and heard great things about it so Dead Space 2 will probably be awesome.

TPG still runs a bunch of L4D2 games in the evenings. Join the L4D2 Group and add us on Steam so that we can invite you (or you can message us when you see us start a game). We play a lot of versus and there is a lot of teamwork involved.

No problem mate. I wasn't trying to be sour or anything (I guess I may have sounded like it :/ ) But thank you for the apology anyway!

Join the L4D2 group? Is that like a Steam group or something? I'll have to check it out! I bet I'd enjoy doing some teamwork on the versus.

    Dead Space 2: TPG Worthy?

Re: Dead Space 2: TPG Worthy?

Yup it's a TPG Steam Group:
    http://www.teamplayergaming.com/left...roup-info.html

Sometimes people will send out an announcement when they are trying to get players for a game. Otherwise, you can just add those people to your Steam friends and PM asking if they want to play. Recently, a bunch of the CSS players have been getting games together, so if you see us starting up L4D2 just ask if there's room.

Re: Dead Space 2: TPG Worthy?

Not sure who moved this, but thanks for whoever did.

And I'm with Rob, I'm not saying that is bad, it's just I know a lot of people that play L4D2 still, it is just usually in the late evening. If that is still going strong, I'm not sure people will want Dead Space 2 for the multiplayer part if it plays the same. It might be better though, so who knows? It probably wouldn't hurt to try if there is enough interest going around for it.

I haven't played the first one but always thought it looked interesting. If TPG gets some servers for Dead Space 2, that would give me even more reason to get the game(s).

Re: Dead Space 2: TPG Worthy?

Dead Space 1 is on sale right now, it's 6.80 until Monday if you wanna give it a shot. I can say that if you like shooters and horrors it's pretty dang good

I'll check out the L4D groups, thanks! But I have to correct something and say that the control style is nothing like L4D.

Really though, I'd be so happy if we could TPG-ize Dead Space, it would be so awesome surviving together!
