Origin Bans
Okay, time for you EA nuthuggers to come in full force and justify this one. I have looked around, under the assumptions that this would be here, but a quick little look through hasn't shown anything. Unusual, this stuff is usually posted pretty quickly. So, if it is already here, please delete.
EA Origin Bans: Update Edition | Rock, Paper, Shotgun
To keep you up to date with the status of our investigation into EA’s dubious banning players from accessing their Origin account games (mostly multiplayer, although we’re hearing exceptions), we have, well, no news.
Unfortunately, despite repeated attempts to receive a statement on EA’s current position on their banning procedure, we have only been met with silence for the last fortnight. After some initial responses, pointing affected customers toward their support lines, we received an ambiguous statement that avoided the current issue and rather said there were plans to “review” whatever the current secret policy might be. And then no responses to our emails since. All the while, we’re hearing of case after case of customers being affected.
Anyways, ignoring my bias, discuss.Last edited by DJ Ms. White; 12-05-11 at 07:50 PM. Reason: posted full article

Re: Origin Bans
I saw a few of these posted on Reddit as well. Your safest bet is just to avoid their forums. Especially since people are also getting banned for what other users are posting.
I wouldn't suggest trying to change any opinions about EA/Origin here on these forums though... The diehards on either sides aren't going to budge on their opinions.

Re: Origin Bans
Ok off topic, but just warning you of this "#2. Never, EVER post entire articles, stories, or otherwise stolen materials from other websites. If you want to discuss a recent article in the NYT or CNN or FNC...fine. Quote a few lines, and bring it here, and JUST LIKE IN #1, be sure you link TO THAT SOURCE/SITE/STORY. There is zero tolerance for plagiarism. Posting entire copies of stories, even with links, on our forums is equivalent to uploading entire albums from CD's or movies from DVD's into our downloads section. Do that, and get banned. No warning. No discussion."

Re: Origin Bans
I don't even have Origin installed on my computer.. I have not trusted this whole thing from the get-go. But I do like to let what is out there known.
It's not stolen if I cited my source. Call it plagiarism if you may, it's not. You can put an ENTIRE book into your essay so long as you cite said book and what you used.
Just looking at Webster's definition of "plagiarism"...
•to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own
•to use (another's production) without crediting the source
•to commit literary theft
•to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source.
What I did is not plagiarism.Speed. I am speed.

Re: Origin Bans
Im not surprised... remeber while back my bc2 account was EA banned because they said i was frauding them on my Dragons age orgins account. But in truth it was a accounting error on there part. Yeah EA is just f-up backwards and like throwing ban hammers and having you spend your precious time trying tog et your account un-banned because of their mistakes.
