A rule for the CSS Servers
Of the rules you have in CSS the flaming behind peoples backs is one rule you guys are missing. You must respect the admin at all times is a rule as it should be. But the respect of your fellow players is not spelled out. This could be ammended in rule# 4.
I know in TPG many regs talk about any other reg on the other team, or in death chat while their own team is alive. Baiter, hacker, fragwhore.
If the player alive, or on the other team is on the bottom of the score board.
Noob, dumbass, this guy is so stupid, what an idiot.
A culture of team work, cannot truely exist without these things, distrust of your better players, despizeing your worst, and openly flaming the two spectrums for all to read/hear. Would you agree this is an issue within the css servers comunity that at some times can get a little hostile?
Calling players names is not "However, since we are a teamplayer server, occasionally it will be the responsibility of members of the team to speak out against slow acting, weak, or ignorant players "
it does nothing to improve the palyer in question to call them these things. CSS should be about shooting guys in the face, not dramma over skill or lack there of. I know you have seen me drop guns for new guys and tell them to just stick with me and their stats improve and are the better for it, and so the team is the better for it.
RESPECT OF FELLOW PLAYERS, BOTH NEW AND REG. Should be addressed within rule #4 guide lines.
What do you guys think? Have you ever seen a reg flame other players?
NOTE:
Definition: for anyone who doesnt know flaming is to talk bad, insult, call people names.
Example : Where do I plant the bomb?
Answer: Your such a noob your dumb = Flaming.
Instead of telling them "over here"
What it is not: Saying omg, lucky shot, thats bs, lag, interp... thoes are called "excuses" and I sometimes make plenty of them from time to time depending on if my shot is on or off for the day.Last edited by SiphiX; 01-31-12 at 08:18 PM.

Re: A rule for the CSS Servers
Flaming is a staple in any game. If you feel that a situation is out of hand then I would suggest telling an admin via team chat @ message. Many people will tell someone where to go, however making a rule out of it would be a bit much. I think this should be a case by case instance.

I feel you Siphix, but it's a given, being a DECENT person is something we expect people to know, if players are found to be asshats, admins to remove them.

Re: A rule for the CSS Servers
Interesting,
Just pointing out there technicaly is not a rule to harrasement of the noobs, or calling everybody hackers all the time. I am just suggesting there be some type of ammendment in the rules. To promote the focus on gameplay - teamwork.
@ Civil as an admin if some guy was constantly talking shit about you calling u a hacker, or a noob or an idiot every time you made a mistake ... would they be banned?
I am not accusing TPG os letting this kind of activity go unchecked, or even claiming its a rampart part of ingame tpg because its not. I am suggesting respect fellow players or to add constructive criticism to rule #4.
I just feel that calling a scub a scrub infront of everybody doesnt make him get good.

If I remember correctly, there is something about trash talking on the motd to the server. And if I even remember a bit more it says something along the lines of trash talking is in no punishable, but if people take it too far the admins will deal with them. Things that you are referring to are inherently apart of any online multiplayer game. Like it or not thats just the way it is. Admins already do and will continue to discuss if someone is being disruptive on the server and they will be treated with accordingly.

02-01-12, 01:37 AM #7If someone calls ME a hacker I will likely SS it, and ask them to keep doing it. If someone calls me a noob I will inform them I have been playing this game a long time, but still suck at it. And if they call me an idiot I will just ask them if they wish to compare IQ scores.
If they are disrupting the server, and not just messing with me, I would expect admin action to be taken.

Your not?
"I know in TPG many regs talk about any other reg on the other team, or in death chat while their own team is alive. Baiter, hacker, fragwhore.

To me there is a big difference from somebody that is a reg that baits, and a first day css player. I think that if somebody baits, and people give him shit about it... good, and if an admin decided to take further action, even better. If a "noob" is unfamiliar w/ a map (or the game in general), which is normally very obvious, I will always explain what the server is about.. tell them to read the motd.. ect. I rarely see repeated harassment of a player in game (mainly b/c we were all "noobs" at some point), if so I am sure the admins would handle this. Is calling somebody a hacker harassment? If they ARE hacking they are banned pretty quick and if they ARE NOT it should be taken as a complement.

Re: A rule for the CSS Servers
This.
I'd be a lot better than I am at CS, had I not started playing DoD. I'm not great at CS, but I help my team as best I can and call out things that I see. If people make fun of me, fuck 'em.
I reiterate what Civil said...if you don't want to be called out for doing non-teamplayer things...stop doing those things.Last edited by Guyver; 02-01-12 at 01:55 AM.
