Or we could make it like YMCA games. Everyone gets equal opportunity at every position, we don't keep score, and there are no winners or losers.

I know this is a game, and it is not real war, but do you think in real life the people with the most money, or best employees/soldiers always win? In your job do you say you are going up against someone better, so you are not even going to try?

I personally don't see how restarting a server with 60 players on it does anything but disrupts gameplay. If the players in question switched teams to form an elite on it will only take them a round or two to group back up, then what another restart?

How bout randomizing players...I have players squad up with me on either the winning or losing side. Team play by radomization is one way of unstacking teams and you know there are players who will switch because of their lameness they can't help themselves they're born that way.

I know it messes up the elite squad but then you get to play with other players who were your foes in the previous round.

I have my preferences on who is in my squad and it's also fun too to kill them when they are the enemy...brings me much satisfaction and camaraderie hightens when we are squaded up again.

Sometimes I don't think a stacked team is necessarily an outcome of effort. Partially it may be switchers, or it just may end up that way. If people switching teams all the time was the cause, we wouldn't end up with entire nights of good team play and a reasonable balance.

I do most definitely try, regardless of whether I'm on the winning side or the losing side. In fact, I usually work much harder with the short end of the stick... It brings out the best.

Of course there has to be a winner and a loser, and point totals. I don't mind losing, ending up with abysmal K, point totals, or all of the previous, as long as I feel I've contributed to the team. If there's no real team to contribute to I feel useless, and therefore do not enjoy playing. Beating my head against a wall holds no interest for me unless I've sipped a bit too much of the monkey juice.

A server restart would MOST definitely disrupt gameplay, that's why I said "extreme cases", but if you don't see the possibility of ANY other outcome, either I'm losing my mind or you're not admitting to yourself that stacked teams can actually be a problem to gameplay itself. If players say it makes them not want to play, is that truly much worse than losing some with a restart?

This issue has been raised NUMEROUS times by regulars in these forums, so it's obviously a problem to at least some of the people that make up TTP. I'm just trying to throw out an idea that may or may not be of use.

Obviously, if a server restart does not fix the issue, then do not repeat it, but please don't stop considering possible solutions to a repeatedly voiced issue. As difficult as it is to address, there may yet be some solution out there, even if it's just awareness, and aforementioned team play.

Well just remember guys, we're also fighting the basic structure of the game itself. Jet's and helo's are the unbalancing factors, not necessarily the players. It gets really unbalanced when the good players get those assets. Other than that, rank and player allocation don't really matter.

And unfortunately, as Latin suggested, this game has been around long enough that most of the good players have learned all the subtle nuances that make them that much better than the rest.

I don't think you'll ever see another EA game with this level of unbalance in it. They certainly took that out in 2142.

So yes, we fight the natural order of server placement and unethical players who want to quietly pad stats, but we are also fighting the game itself.

Hopefully TTP is offering the best possible alternative to a world of 24/7 Karkland, or 24/7 Wake.

    *shivers*

ok I have been on your server no offense but I agree all the team players and ones that know each other go to one side leave freaking rank out of the equation Clans should play together but the problemn I see is most of the clans are on one side WTF?

but what about Newer players to the game or to this site? (or as u guys like to call us NOOBS) god I hate being called that I try my hardest to get better how can I when I spending all my freaking time re spawning? how can I learn shit? and don't give me this crap about read a lot here and here and here I have done it and it don't help me as I have spent many hours reading and practicing on single player bombing sniping and I can kill the bots with 3 rounds to the chest but online it takes 20 hits WTF and I AM FAIRLY DECENT on hardest setting

EVERYONE is so scared to say specifically spots they use to set up choke points ect they are too freaking vague when I help someone totally I hold no info back if they start owning my on that then I guess im using it too much lol This whole game is a joke you have to spend 5 hours a day 7 days a week on it to be any good

And as far as the squads that dont use teamwork ect how can one or two squads that work together own a whole army of team players that play together day in and day out? they cant and half the time it takes me too long to type out to admin SO and So is not working as a team

And I am sick and tired of all the sniper bashing Snipers can be useful in the right hands on the right map and in the right circumstance I myself love to play sniper as I love spotting armor and shit out but all u regs Demand NO SNIPERS That is the only way I can help the team is by spotting Look at my KDR I cant hit shit! here is the link http://bf2s.com/player/77840143/ why? I dont know, people can always see me before I see them.

i Know ...Why dont I use other kits.... Medic? I die too much on my way to revive someone, support? Noone whats me to use the SAW for what it was for to suppress while squad advances plus noone is afraid of sticking there head out when bullets zip past em because they know it isnt real! and respawn is free

I am just about to call it quits on online gaming yes there are team players but they are way too selective of who they want and what kits they will use or let in their squad

Online and single player are two way separate things. Offline you dont have to worry about ping and lag spikes ect.. Online you have to worry about people being intelligent waiting to open fire. Waiting for that moment to put your lights out. Its a whole nother gig online. TTP is a great server, some of the best players play on it. Dont get discouraged if you dont get pounded. You have to get up and move on. Sometimes I play 24/7 karkand infantry only just to sharpen up my ground pounding skills, but then that turns into a big nade fest lol.

Anyhow as far as teams go and stackage I know that it will always be around and there is nothing anyone can do it about it, so I am just going to accept this fact and try to get players to follow my lead if another team is getting destroyed. I think im starting to sway my regular squad members to switch teams, but its hard to switch an entire squad to the opposite team.

Anyhow, after tomorrow night it will be a new year with new goals. new years resolution teach "noobs" teamwork and how to take aim breath steadily and get that one shot one kill.

Re: Battlefield 2 Vanilla Server. - Never thought id say this -

For those of you sick of the air superiority... check out 2142. It's a bit more balanced towards infantry combat. (Sorry, I had to do it, you BF2 thugs )

As far as learning the game and such goes, as Ranger pointed out, the regs are usually more than happy to lend a hand. Just hop into a squad and put forth an effort. Ask questions.

I know I NEVER kick someone of out my squad if they make any effort towards learning or following orders. I'm sure the BF2 crowd is fairly similar in that light.

And as for the sniper issue... Hop in a squad with one of the names you see on these forums and explain to them (quickly... try not to turn the battlefield into a chatroom) what you want to do and just ask for one chance to prove your usefulness as a sniper.

Then once they give you that chance, execute to the best of your ability. I enjoy a good sniper in my squads if they are communicating effectively and following orders. Too many bad snipers give those few good ones a bad reputation though.

If you have questions, just ask.
