Thread: Viewing Ranks

Last time i checked today i was 17th on the server ranks....and ive started my climb back towards the top on the psychostats. muahahaha :gun: I figured that one best fits me.

it's possible for us to make saying rank spit out a global message. Perhaps you should make a poll and see if you win.

for me, I've got several reasons for not having the ranks spit out global messages.

#1. your rank is your rank. If you want people to know what it is, then you can say it, and ask others for it. But then it's your choice. It's easy to be pround of a top 100 rank, but for those in the lower 50% or worse.....perhaps they'd like to keep things private. the current method gives them that option.

#2. Displaying the rank in chat for everyone spams the chat with even more worthless info than it already has. Nto only would it display someone saying rank, but then also their rank information.

#3. Even if your rank was shown globally, there is not current method for us to show ALL mani ranks linked to names. RIght now, it's limited to the top10. It would be nice to have like a top50 or top100, becuase that would basically show all the REAL regular players and their status in the ranks. But, alas, it's top10 our less...... I of course have no problem with it being in the top10 range.........as I'm sure you can understand.

Every so often, we reset the ranks to give everyone the chance, or at least the idea that they can get into the top 10. The reality is, our ranks are not setup in a fashion to just let anyone stay in the top 10. Ranks are currenlty setup as kills minus deaths. Not simple KD's. Kills minus deaths allows us to keep the minimum requirements for ranking down (1 kill = you're ranked). this means we have a lot of people in the ranks, and that makes users happy. But also, kills-deaths allows us to keep out one time connecters, hackers, and assholes. If you don't play often, you won't stay, or even get into the top ranks.....which makes the regulars happy and keeps them coming back (lest they lose their rank, which I'm sure you guys see happen if you spend long time off the server).

So essentially, our mani-stats are more of a display of those who play a lot. Of course, you need to have a decent ratio to stay up there, but even someone with a 1.1:1KD is going to pass up someone with a 2:1 or 3:1 KD as long as capt. 1.1:1 plays more than mr. 2:1. It will take a LOT more playing.....but it will still benefit the longtime players.

Psychostats is where you should get your real rank feeling. It includes a much mroe comprehensive program for getting skill points, especially for those that plant bombs, rescue hostages, defuse, and win. Mani-stats are just about kills and deaths......a simplisitic way of looking at a game that is a lot more than just killing.
