    something on level 3's side of things. since your ISP (knology) seems to be a direct customer of them, you may want to ask them to have level3 check into it. send an email to their support with this tracert and mention when you first saw it and how it affects you.

    i'm seeing on your 3rd hop that you are getting really erratic response times. try running a 5 minute ping test to see what you average times are. (only post the "ping statistics")

    also, try running a constant ping while you are in game and are seeing the high ping. you can run this command in the background before starting the game, then hit ctrl-c to stop it when finished playing.

    I have been playing on the server for the past couple of months. I used to average 30-70 ping. Now, I am constantly in the mid-100's and spike up to 200-300. I also can't see the TTP graphic banner anymore in the map load screen or the server list screen. I have reset my modem and turned off my firewall. Internet Ping test shows 40-60 ping on their site.

    I have no idea how to read this...
    it's read "good".

    to go from you to the BC2 box, you connect to 15 different points on the internet, aka hops, bouncing from router to router and network to network.

    none of them seem to be slowing you down considerably, and all are passing you through stably (no timeouts or big spikes from ping to ping).

    it's a good trace.

    it's also pretty direct. chicago, to denver, to dallas. About as direct as it gets. Once, I had a trace from houston to dallas that for some reason thought it was a great idea to send me to Atlanta. Cuz...you know...it's on the way and all. Added another 30-50ms to my ping, easily.

    That's when I got all misty eyed about gamerail, and made posts to hype them up. Direct connect, and instead of 15-20 hops, from houston to dallas in 6 or 7. Pretty nuts.
