    resident clan button

I noticed the resident clan button takes visitors to the groups page instead of the clan public forum.

The groups area doesn't look like its going to be used for anything except permissions. Since clans have their own public forum - all the discussions, info, etc happens there.

Visitors click on the link and have no idea there is a clan forum on another area of the site.

If clans didn't have their own public forums, then I see how the groups area would be used for discussions and whatnot.

Hmm I clicked on BT's and went to their public forum, but the 5th link takes me to your group page as I post this. Maybe its different depending on the user clicking it?

I kinda like the clan page actually. This allows you to create important topics there on the clan page, then provide them a link to the public forums for all the other BS.

    Re: resident clan button

Well, I still think it detracts from the usual hits on the regular clan forum so I'm not a fan, but I like the concept if resident clans didn't get their own forums.

Two sources for data < one source for the same data.

I like it because in the example of HRD we have like 15 stickies. When you have that many items you tell people are important then they lose their importance. Now things that are "vital" can be moved to our page.

    Re: resident clan button

Thats true. Maybe if there was a way to have a nice big link to the clan forums besides having to post a topic that says "forums here" with a hyperlink. That would be cool.

For the record, not posting this out of narcissism to get people to visit any particular clan forum, just out of TPG's interests to get more forum/ad page views in general.

    Re: resident clan button

we'll give it a test. if it turns out that most clans aren't using their group pages effectively (and most aren't....cough), then we can make the resident clan link a link to whatever you want.

It would be nice if vB allowed users to create their own custom drop link menu....like your own custom "quick links" box. so, you would have 5 choices, and say....unread posts, pm's, profile, replies, and XYZ clan unread posts could be the 5 choices.
