Windows Vista/7 Gadgets

So I'm bored and flipping through o/s settings to monkey with and notice when right clicking the desktop something called windows gadgets (which appear to be just like the widgets that show on some smartphones but for PC's) and I know that there are plenty of people here with programming experience.. I wonder why not have a nifty gadget made that one could click on to bring up the server status for the various games.. or more website forums related like who's logged into your friends list in the forums and whether you have msgs waiting or all of it and info like we have posting on the main page, or even more information? I'll be the first to admit that I don't know how difficult it would be, but these things seem reasonably popular from what I've been reading and people don't always want to use a browser... comments?

I'm not sure how that'd work with the way the forums are set up. Sounds like it'd be a lot of work. Perhaps there is already a widget out there for vB forums that we can modify or use for TPG?

Otherwise I think it'd be a lot of work to get done. A future idea to implement perhaps though and something to look into.

Im sure you can finagle a web-based gadget or even your background to show gametracker info...

maybe so, I haven't found anything based on vb or gametracker s'why I was hoping for some of the
experts to speak up

There is a steam widget that allows you to see steam server info I think.

if nothing else, use the rss widget and add which ever feeds you want, from the forums.

yep, it's a toss up for that one or just having notices sent to emails, they both have uses depending on whether I'm carrying my smartphone or not.. although a TPG android app... hrmm
