    Improving Moderators..

Can we please get some explaination why everything is getting locked for no reason?

The US vs CAN thread? We are all having fun in there, making some funny jokes and laughing...no harm...why lock?

The Lohan thread in OTS, why did you guys lock that?

Climate thread in HD, why did you lock that? Some of us did not compete in the last debat on it...

The bacon vs sausage thread and the pigs? Why the fuck did you lock that? That would of been a fun debate..

It seems like you guys are just locking shit for no reason. You leave absolutely no explaination. We are following all the rules, no one is hating, no one is being racsist...honestly, we are all (i think) really enjoying our new thread about debating topics.

Who cares if its bacon vs sausage, or gays vs religion....Its all debates, and its a great way to keep traffic to the site.

    Seriously....why?

    Re: Improving Moderators..

The US vs. Canada thread was locked since it had degraded from a dick waving thread to a pointless spam thread.

The climate thread was locked at my own request since people deemed any debate on the subject moot.

The bacon vs. sausage thread was a pointless spam topic that did not belong in the Politics forum.

The lohan thread in OTS was probably locked since Hub had posted a similar thread up later in the Politics forum.

So let me get this straight...we can have pointless spam threads like night owl club, dicking around thread, and others, but a fun, jab for jab, canadians vs americans thread is not ok? No one got pissed, everyone had fun, and some of the shit was pretty fucking funny (like texas being the fat sister)

Bacon thread, you could of moved it somewhere else, who are you to judge what important topics that are to be debated? We could of had fun with that, make it into a poll or something

A few peopled deemed the climate control thread non debateable again. We have debated everything here at TTP, that doesnt mean that it cant be debated again. Its fun, its entertaining, it BRINGS TRAFFIC to the forums.

If everything is going to get locked whenever moderators feel like it, without a single explaination or just cause to do so, what is the point of having a debate forum?

Then post up the thread in OTS; that's where pointless spam threads go.

    Re: Improving Moderators..

How about you, being a moderator, move them to where you think they should go, instead of locking everything.

This is the problem with moderators here. This was the WHOLE reason i was fired from admin, because I had a voice and was fed up with it.

I was a mod here for over a year...Do you know how many threads I locked? ZERO! There is absolutely NO point to lock a thread, other than in banned forums, or if someone is making personal threats that go beyond internet. If you feel a therad is done, just leave it at that...who knows, maybe we can go back 2 years later and talk about something again...or maybe there was something awesome posted in there, and someone would like to quote it for a sig...or maybe in an argument down the road, we need to pull a quote from somewhere...

Why lock it? It makes NO SENSE! lol Damn seriously guys....I love you all...but we dont need to be internet cowboys...lol

    Thanks White...

But seriously, more mods chime in....Bigger issue...can we stop the senseless pointless locking? There is a sticky in the mod forums of how to lock stuff, are we forgeting what it says? Maybe new regulation if it says "lock stuff at will anytime for anything"

Lets talk, come one guys, we need to improve some things around here. It sucks I cant be in the circle anymore, Ive tried, but got denied. But I'm still here to help, I always have Ideas, issues, and improvements

I actually agree with Kraker.. unless it turns into an all-out flame fest, I see no reason to lock them. However, should the originator of a thread request it be locked, it is their right to do so.. just as White did with his thread, only that he had the ability to do it himself.

    Thanks walker.

I apologize, I was unaware that white started that thread. This is understandable then. But still, there needs to be a reason for locking, maybe make a post or something just letting everyone know hwy it was locked.

And lets define flame fest. yea, sometimes people get heated and go after each other, you know, "you are a fucking retard for thinking that" or "shut the fuck up you dumbass" shit like that. But do not lock for that. I would say, deal with the 2 that are getting out of hand, but let the thread continue.

I would say, Lock shit if people are like "I will come to [insert your town here] and fucking kill you mother fucker" That shit is what our mods need to be watching out for.

I have always seen a difference in mods and admins. Admins are there to force rules, ban people, kick people stuff like that (like police)

Mods are more or less here to just make sure shit is going smoothly, and if its not, bring it to the head mods for discussion (more like security gaurds)

Having our mods running around aimlessly locking stuff for no reason really just puts a damper on the whole site...IMO...

    Re: Improving Moderators..

here is a perfect example IMO of how mods should operate.

This is from vafa in a recent thread in CSS forum.

Becoming an admin is invite only and most of them have been around a while....true veterans of our teamplay ways. We always have our eyes open for prospective admins....ones that display excellence in teamplay, have an involvement in the community, have solid playtime, and are level headed. Sounds to me like you are already to a good start.

I am locking this because I do not want this to turn into an "I want to be an admin" thread, but I look forward to seeing you in the servers and welcome to TPG.
Articulate, professional, VALID reason of doing so. This thread was warrented no more discussion by any parties, and vafa politely and proffesionally explained why, and locked it up.

Why cant we have more people like vaf?
